March 31st 2020, 12:16pm, By: Mark Prezelj

With little other active sports around the world at the moment, we’ll be increasing our esports coverage here on Before You Bet, thanks to the support of Picklebet – Australia’s leading dedicated esports betting provider. We’ll be providing daily esports betting tips from the major Dota2, CS:GO, LOL and COD tournaments around the world.

Today we look over two ESL Pro League S11 CS:GO fixtures and two ESL One Los Angeles Dota2 Major games, featuring some of the strongest teams from their respective esports titles, who will duke it out at the highest level of the competitive esports scene.

Dota2 Betting Tips – March 31st

ESL One Los Angeles Dota2 Major: NA

Business Associates vs Quincy Crew

Business associates and Quincy Crew will renew their hostilities during Matchday 2 of the North American division in what will be a crucial match to win for both sides, as they look to secure a top-three seed in their group.

Quincy Crew roster have returned to play under their old banner, after their former employer Chaos Esports Club called it quits on their Dota2 project earlier this month. Although losing the organisation's financial backing and facilities is a huge blow to the team, Quincy Crew are still the same roster that claimed silver at DOTA Summit 11 in November and secured the second seed at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 North America Closed Qualifier. What's more, Yawar "YawaR" Hassan and co. already made a huge statement at this Major, with a 2-1 win over Evil Geniuses on Matchday 1, effectively making them serious contenders for the top placement in the round-robin stage.

Business associates, on the other side, have had quite a turbulent journey through the competitive scene since the roster got released by J.Storm at the start of March. Since then, Business associates appeared at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 North America Closed Qualifier, StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 and most recently WeSave! Charity Play - North America, where they finished third, seventh-eighth and third-fourth respectively. Their iffy form continued into the LA Major, as BA failed to defeat CR4ZY on Matchday 1 (0-2), meaning they are currently the main contenders to suffer an early elimination from the tournament.

The two teams have shared some history, yet it was Quincy Crew's roster which has better memories of their meetings with Clinton "Fear" Loomis' squad. While playing under Chaos, YawaR and his men defeated Business associates twice at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 North America Closed Qualifier, with a combined aggregate score of 4-1, while they also defeated J.Storm (2-0) at Leipzig Major qualifiers back in December.

It's quite unfortunate, but it's also an undeniable fact that Fear and his crew are not in the best shape, and their poor display against CR4ZY on Sunday fails to inspire much optimism this squad can make any serious noise here. Quincy Crew defeated Evil Genuises on Saturday, so there is no reason to believe they will struggle here. A 2-0 win for YawaR and co. should be on the cards, which is why siding with ex-Chaos EC roster at -1.5 map handicap is the best bet to make in our books.

ESL One Los Angeles Dota2 Major: China

PSG.LGS vs Newbee

PSG.LGD and Newbee will lock horns on day four of the Chinese division of ESL One LA Dota2 online Major in what will is billed as one of the most one-sided fixtures of the day, however, there is more to it than meets the eye.

While both very respected Chinese Dota2 teams, it's Newbee, who have not been too solid in recent years. In fact, the TI4 champions have not been very relevant in the competitive scene since 2018, when they won ESL One Gentling 2018. Since then, the team has been struggling and in July 2019 opted for a complete roster rebuild, when they signed the former Forward Gaming roster under their banner.

Even that move, however, failed to bear much fruit, as Newbee finished TI9 ninth-12th. Since then, Newbee made further changes to their roster, yet again without much success besides the Elite Challenge Season 1 and 2 titles, which, in all fairness don’t mean much at the top level of play.

PSG.LGD's venture into 2019/20 season wasn't without struggles either, partially because Lu "Somnus" Yao and co. decided to skip the first part of Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) competitive schedule, which left them a bit ring rusty at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore, where PSG.LGD failed to claw their way out of the groups and finished at ninth-10th place. Their iffy displays continued into ESL One Los Angeles 2020 China Open Qualifier, where PSG.LGD lost to a C-Tier team Blaze, which ushered an immediate roster change. Coach Yao "QQQ" Yi opted for an unconventional and at the time very quite questionable roster change, which saw Yang "Chalice" Shenyi move to carry position in favour of Ren "eLeVeN" Yangwei who arrived from EHOME to no.3 position.

The roster change proved to be very effective, as PSG.LGD managed to pocket China Dota2 Professional League Season 1 title by defeating ViCi gaming in the grand finals and with that re-established themselves as one of the Dota2 juggernauts.

So far this Major tournament, Newbee lost to EHOME on day one, but put up an impressive display against Invictus Gaming (2-0) and ViCi Gaming (2-0) on Sunday and Monday respectively, while PSG.LGD lost to ViCi (1-2) on day one, edged past EHOME (2-1) on Sunday and lost to Royal Never Give Up (1-2) on Monday.

Although PSG.LGD are a much stronger team on paper, their shaky displays against EHOME and RNG fail to inspire much optimism they are capable of producing a clean sweep here. Newbee, on the other side, seem to be on a hot streak with their triumphs over ViCi and Invictus, which suggests they should be able to keep PSG.LGD on their toes. A clean sweep from either side seems very unlikely while backing Newbee to produce an upset win might not be a bad betting option either.
