Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, March 2nd 2024
Race 5: Nova 106.9 BM78 1400m - 3:33pm (AEDT)
(9) Hellavadancer $6.50/$2.35: she has a sticky gate so they’ll need a plan, but with AFRICAN DAISY drawn inside her, I think they can land three pairs back and one out. If that’s the case and she doesn’t get caught on a limb, she’s right up to these. Two-back she was an excellent winner over this track/trip in BM72 grade beating TRIBECA STAR et al (she had gate 12 that day and ended up OSL / was strong late). She then went to 1350m LS at Doomben in BM78 grade and was sound behind VIMINELE running third (was good late). She arrives fifth-up for the gun Lees/Mallyon combination, should settle forward of midfield, and goes well on top of the ground. Good e/w chance.
(7) African Daisy $3.20 5YO mare who hasn’t been that far away with her two runs this prep. Found one better first up and then just got done last start. Fitter now for this run and gets a 2kg claim to assist. Worth thought again.

Race 8: Ladbrokes Odds Surge Plate Class 6 – 5:27pm (AEDT)
(10) Kanazawa $8.50/$2.80: he’s the best weighted horse in the race under SWP conditions and draws a nice gate to map right in behind the speed. It was a sound return over 1000m LS behind OUTWEIGHED when he was run off his legs early and raced wide throughout before coming back between runners toward the inside. Looked like he needed the run. He plummets 6.5kgs at the weights, will take improvement from the first-up effort, gets in-form apprentice Cejay Graham up, and has a decent second-up record. He’s had a quiet trial leading into this (was nice work) and I think he can improve sharply. Another good e/w bet.
(5) Milane $3.00: Tipped against this fella last start and he proved me wrong by winning nicely. No reason why he cant go on with it again now. Draws a nice gate and has been well supported. Will be around the mark.
(10) Kanazawa E/W

Race 10: Sky Racing BM68 1600m– 6:47pm (AEDT)
(9) Ocean Zar $3.40: if she’d drawn a better gate, we’d be chips in. Looks a nice type who clearly hasn’t found her ceiling yet. She was very good first-up over 1200m when coming from last to run third behind LENNIC beaten 2.4L. She then went to 1400m LS, was very well backed (SP’d $1.50), and put them away easily (won by 3.1L eased down). Arrives third-up and gets out to the mile which both look to be positives. I’m hoping by this stage of the day it will be no disadvantage getting off the fence and give those out wide their chance. If she’s close enough in the run and gets some luck from the gate, she’s awfully hard to beat. Keen.
(11) Russian Mystic $8.50/$2.70: Honest type who has only missed the trifecta once from 5 runs this prep. Looks to be only getting better. Peaking fitness snow and KWT remains in the saddle. Roughie chance.
