Doomben Racing Tips: Saturday, May 24th 2025
Race 6: Magic Millions Mile - 1600m – 2:38pm (AEST)
(3) Roots $31.00/$7.00: 6YO Mare who was flat on return and was expected to be much better. We know she is capable of a nice run and she will be stripping fitter now second up. Draws a nice alley and loves the weather effected tracks. Tommy Berry for Waller. Blow out hope.
(4) Jennilala $5.50/$2.10: Terrific first up win over the mile t Flemington before only finished 1.5L off them at Morph. Hard fit for this third up, loves the soft track and will have plenty of admirers. Froggy Newitt stays on and he’ll be hoping to pinch the front and lead all the way.
(9) Vivy Air $4.00: 4YO Mare who continues to disappoint, but does look to be back into a winnable race. Collett gets back on top and she gets a handy gate to be able to sit closer throughout. Both career wins have come on the soft deck which boosts confidence, but yet to win over the mile from 8 cracks. Will be around the mark, but probably a touch short in the market.
(4) Jennilala E/W
$5.50/$2.10 (1U/2U)
Race 8: Doomben Cup - 2000m – 4:07pm (AEST)
(1) Antino $3.50: Dominant winner in the Group 2 Hollindale last start winning by 3.5L. The rise to 2000m looks to be no problem and with the wet track still in play he must be considered. Hard fit third up and will be hitting the line aggressively.
(8) Eliyass $9.50/$2.70: We tipped this fella last start in the Hollindale and he didn’t handle the wet track at all. Happy to forgive that being back on the soft now and has had two weeks between runs. He was heavily backed there, so the stable and punters were all bullish on him. Gets out to 2000m where he has won 7 from 9 and he is unbeaten when second up with 3 x wins on the soft track. Tim Clark will be hoping to get a nice sit up on the pace and will be in this for a long way.
(12) Pride Of Jenni $4.00: 7YO Mare who has been good since retirement and got the job done nicely last start lugging 61kg on her back, however against some much easier opponents. She is back competing at G1 level now, but gets pole positon which allows her to ping and lead to dictate the race. Takes catching.
(8) Eliyass E/W
$9.50/$2.70 (1U/2U)
Race 9: Hkjc World Pool Brc Sprint -1350m - 4:30pm (AEST)
(1) Yellow Brick $18.00/$4.40: 5YO Gelding who doesn’t get put up at this price very often. Resuming today off three very handy trials so he looks to be returning in good order. Boasts a terrific first up record and handles the wet track. Draws well and Mallyon remains on top who is unbeaten from the one ride. Blow out hope.
(2) Far Too Easy $23.00/$5.50: Another roughie of the field who looks over the odds. He won the Kosciusko last campaign and then wasn’t all that disgraced in his other outings against top opponents. He was favourite on his return, but failed to fire a shot unfortunately. I am happy to forgive that run. His second up record is almost perfect along with his record on the soft track which makes him an absolute bet here. (Small stake). Craig Williams still steers and he looks to be suited over 1350. Blow out hope.
(11) War Machine $3.80: 4YO Who is on the rise and has been terrific in both runs this prep. Most recently won easily in a BM100 over 1400m at Caulfield. Makes the trip up for this and has been solid in the market thus far. Blake Shinn steers and with a nice barrier he looks to get a nice run throughout. Can go on with it.
(2) Far Too Easy E/W
$23.00/$5.50 (0.5 Units)
