Race 3: The Conservatory At tattersall’s Club Class 3 HCP 1350m- 2:22pm (AEDT)

(13) Snow Boum $6.50/$2.35: very open race with a few of these resuming first-up so I’m happy to have something on this girl with fitness on her side. She was good over 1200m three-back when shuffled toward the rear of the field and forced to race wide 3WWC throughout before hitting the line nicely to finish fourth beaten 1.3L. She then stayed at 1200m two-back and sat OSL for the entirety but couldn’t quite reel in LENNIC who gave a big kick on the corner (beat the rest easily). She went to 1350m LS, bounced to the front, dictated, and gave a nice kick on straightening to hold off VICTORIA ROC and PETERSHAM (since ran well last week in a BM68). She plummets 6kgs to help offset the rise in grade, draws an ideal gate for Graham to sit handy to the speed, and she run well with the cut out of the ground. Nice e/w chance.

(2) African Daisy $3.40: 5YO mare who hasn’t been all that far away in her first 2 runs this prep. Peaking third up and gets a 2kg claim this time round. Worth thought here.

(13) Snow Boum E/W

$6.50/$2.35 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Tattersalls’ Arcade BM75 1615m – 4:43pm (AEDT)

(9) Granite Prince $4.20: he was a dominant winner 3-back over 1350m beating O’MISS BEHAVING by 4.2L with 60.5kgs on his back in BM65 grade. He went up to BM75 grade two-back over the same trip when he led them up and was just collared inside the final 50m by MOONAN ME and BOLD PEDRO (also here). He went back to BM68 grade LS but up to the mile for the first time this prep, and he beat all-bar O’MISS BEHAVING (with 61kgs) who had the drop on him (he was forced to work early from the wide gate and then over-raced OSL / was nailed right on the wire). I thought he went very well. He’s had 2 weeks between runs, draws a lovely gate, and maps to sit right in behind the speed (SO DAPPER, VENDIDIT, and COCOBREW EXPRESS all like to roll forward / lead). He has a very good record on soft tracks and a pretty good record at the track. He should give us a sight.

(1) Wairere Falls $12/$3.50: Drops in class now, but will have to carry top weight. Small relief with a 1.5kg claim engaged. Second up run was handy and he showed a nice TOF. Capable of winning here if he shows that ability again. Fitter for the third up run. Big weight is the only concern overall. Each way chance.

(9) Granite Prince

$4.20 (1.5 Units)

Race 9: Ladbroke It QTIS Jewel Prelude Hcp 1100m - 6:08pm (AEDT)

(7) Kesalul $10/$3.30:  best roughie of the day! He won his first two runs back this prep over 1000m pretty comfortably. He wanted to do a bit wrong / raced greenly in the former, but he really knuckled down to the task in the latter and got the better of JENCHICK BOOM (big gaps to third). They went straight to the 3YO Guineas on the Gold Coast LS over 1200m and he measured right up to them running a very game third after sitting 3WNC outside the leaders from a wide gate (ties in with DEFIANT SPIRIT). He’s since had a little freshen up before an easy trial over 900m at Beaudesert a week ago. There looks to be so much speed on paper in this race so I’m hoping they slot in behind them from a nice gate and save him up for last crack. Expecting a good effort.

(4) Highbar $3.50: Favourite of the race and deserves to be after the impressive start to his career. 3 wins from 4 runs with some tough victories. Key jockey booked to ride. Tougher race now though, but worth thought again.

(7) Kesalul E/W

$10/$3.30 (1 Unit)

Race 10: XXXX Open Hcp 1615m - 6:50pm (AEDT)

(3) Daytona Bay $2.80: best bet of the day! He’s returned in great order after making the trip north to the Schweida stable and looks well placed again today. It was an excellent return over 1200m when he gave them a big head start before warming up late to just miss ON THE LEAD. He then went to 1400m LS, jumped to the front with 60.5kgs on his back, looked to be headed on the corner, gave the second fav EMPEROR the run of the race (camped in behind him), but still responded to the urgings of Jimmy Orman to kick clear inside the final furlong to win by over a length. It was a very good win and he was strong through the line. Gets to the mile third-up today, can roll forward from the wide gate (not a lot of speed inside him), drops 4kgs in the weights, and he enjoys the sting out of the ground should the rain arrive. I note Orman has stuck with him over key rival SHOPPING ESPRIT too. Can go on with it.

(3) Indian Dreamer $18/$4.00: best roughie in the field. Scratched last week an hour before jump and now lines up again here. Up to the mile looks ideal now as he will be storming home late and will need the extra 200m that he missed last outing when he motored home. Terrific record over this track/trip. Fitter second up and gets in with the bottom weight. Worth a small play.

(3) Daytona Bay

$2.80 (3.5 Units)
