Horse racing returns to Doomben this Saturday after three consecutive meetings at Eagle Farm. The rail is out 0.5m the entirety after being out 3m the last time they raced (22 July), and our selections are for a GOOD track – watch and monitor for any pattern if possible.

Race 2: Mount Franklin BM75 1350m - 12:53pm AEST
(3) AYAHUASCA ($5.00) – lightly raced 6YO mare for the Gollan stable who looks a great chance in an open race. Sound return over 1200m when she was 3WNC the trip and was the best of the closers running second to BLACK ON BEAUTY (winner had a soft time in front / race shape against) before going to 1300m LS and wanting to lay in under pressure down the straight. I think she should have finished closer, and the run was better than it looked all things considered. She’s third-up today and finally draws a gate with B. Thompson up. Off-side blinker goes on first time (big tick), she maps for a good run, and wants the extra trip to my eye. She can improve sharply (1 unit win)
(1) PRINCESS TENKO ($3) – Early favourite in the market who won by over 4L first up and than narrowly got beaten in the Rockhampton Newmarket. Gets a 3kg claim with WHEELER in the saddler and expect a big run. Yet to place at this track from three attempts though.

Race 5: XXXX BM70 2000m - 2:03pm AEST
(3) COUP DE TONNERRE ($4.20) – looks one of the better bets of the day! Nice return over 1400m behind REJOICED when he was stuck 3&4-wide the trip and still did his best work late after hitting a flat spot. Went straight to 1815m LS and punched the breeze OSL but kept kicking all the way to the wire only going under 0.7L behind NIKAU SPUR (he beat home GALIFIANAKIS who had run of the race / has since won / ties in with SO BENE, CASH ME and SHEZADANDI). He’s third-up today, fitter, and will take further improvement. He gets out to 2000m and maps right in behind the leaders from gate 2. Jimmy Orman to take the ride. Keen he runs well (2 units win)
(6) CASH ME ($5/$2) – Faded late last start over this trip to narrowly miss by half a length, finished fourth still. Three runs prior to that have been solid. Gets a 2kg claim and draws well. Worth thought at an each way price.
(3) COUP DE TONNERRE - WIN

Race 6: Drinkwise Plate C3 1200m - 2:38pm AEST
(6) RAINBOW CONNECTION ($2.30) – he’s the best weighted horse on the card! He’s the top rater at 84, his closest rival is THELWELL who’s a 74 rater and he only gives that runner 1.5kgs. He produced a better run than it looked first up when he was back in the field of a slowly run race (first 2 out were the first 2 home) and did some nice work late (race shape against). Ran well second up last prep going from 1000m to 1200m (same recipe here) when collared on the wire by CUBAN ROYALE (beat home DALALAAT and SOAMI who have since won / ran well). Draws a nice gate for Thompson and there looks to be genuine speed on paper. Hard to beat (4 units win)
(5) PREACH ($19/$4.20) – Roughie chance that has been good over this distance and proven third up. Nice booking of Du Plessis. Would prefer a dry track, but could sneak a placing here at big odds.
