Dolphins vs Titans Preview & Betting Tips: NRL Round 26 2025

August 30th 2025, 3:30pm, By: Ben Bridge

NRL Dolphins vs Titans Tips

A Queensland derby concludes Round 26, with neither the Dolphins nor the Titans having a whole lot to play for, save for pride. With the Roosters win over the Storm on Friday Night Football, the top 8 teams are essentially set, although the Dolphins can still mathematically make the top 8, whilst the Titans are staring down the barrel of another Wooden Spoon. Could be a truck load of points scored in this one.

Ben Bridge brings us his free preview and NRL betting tips for this match below. If you're keen to follow then check out our best betting apps and find a new site to support!

Dolphins vs Titans Prediction & Tips: 2025 NRL Round 26

Dolphins Season Spiralling Out of Control

The Dolphins season has well and truly hit the skids since losing Herbie Farnworth, culminating in a terrible loss last week to the Sea Eagles, 58-30. With their chances of a top 8 finish all but over, the Dolphins will surely look back on season 2025 as a huge, wasted opportunity. Nevertheless, we must move forward, and they get a great chance to finish the season on a high here against a terrible Titans team that look destined to take out the Wooden Spoon.

Over the past three weeks, the Dolphins have conceded a whopping 160 points, or 53.3 points per game, with their performance last week no doubt the worst of them all. Coming up against a Sea Eagles team who had forgotten how to attack, the Dolphins were never in the game, trailing 22-12 at the half, before the Sea Eagles blitzed them in the second half, running in a further six tries to destroy the Dolphins. They gave up a massive 2072 run metres, 10-line breaks, and 21 offloads in the huge loss.

There was no real standout for the Dolphins, getting contributions from several players in attack, whilst the entire team was woeful in defence. With the Titans ability to put points on the board, they won’t be able to take it easy this week either.

Titans Looking Forward to the Off Season

The Titans, despite sitting last on the ladder and being losers of four straight games, are not my lowest power rated team in the NRL right now. No, that honour belongs to the Knights, however the Titans aren’t exactly covering themselves in glory either. Like the Knights, the Titans have already announced they will be parting ways with their Head Coach Des Hasler at season’s end, with Josh Hannay being named as his replacement.

Last week, the Titans took on the Warriors at home, in a game that showed just how far behind the top 8 teams the Titans are. Despite being on the road and missing several big names, the Warriors dominated the contest, scoring five unanswered tries between the 6th and 64th minutes to lead 32-6. Two late Titans’ tries flattered them on the score board, in what was a dominant victory for the Warriors.

Tino Fa’asuamaleaui was massive for the Titans, making 48 tackles, running for 149 metres and scoring a try, whilst AJ Brimson again played well at the back, setting up two tries and busting 5 tackles. It was nowhere near enough though, as the Titans continue to sink lower.

Dolphins vs Titans Recent History

The Dolphins have dominated the early days of this rivalry, winning four of the five games played between the teams. The lone victory for the Titans was the corresponding match last season, as the Titans defeated the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium 21-14 in round 21. Apart from that, it has been all Dolphins, with their average margin of victory sitting at just over 11 points per game.

The last time the teams met was back in round 5 this season at Cbus Super Stadium, where the Dolphins closed 5.5-point road favourites, with a high total of 51.5. With both teams close to full strength, it was all the Dolphins, as they outgained the Titans by 500 metres, breaking the line five times to two, and popping nearly twice as many offloads. The Dolphins led 28-0 after 65 minutes, with two late Titans tries making the result look a little better for the home side.

Jamayne Isaako was huge for the Dolphins, scoring a try, breaking the line twice, setting up a try, and potting 8 from 8 off the tee. Phillip Sami was strong for the Titans, scoring a try and getting a line break, busting three tackles and running for 214 metres.

Points, Points, and More Points

The Dolphins were pencilled in as 4.5-point home favourites on the lookahead, before re-opening at the same price. Dolphins money came in, pushing this to 5.5, where it currently still sits, although the Dolphins are juiced with this pushing up closer to the key number of 6. I don’t think it will cross 6, as I don’t see too much confidence in the Dolphins from the market given how poorly they have played lately. I have the Dolphins as an 8-point favourite at the moment, but I think I’m still a little high on them and can’t trust them to cover the spread in this one. I would very much lean Dolphins -5.5, but wouldn’t bet it if it goes past the key of 6.

The total is where I will be looking to get involved in this matchup, with the number opening at a massive 53.5, and bumping up slightly to 54.5. This will be the equal highest closing total all season if it goes off at 54.5, and I can fully get behind this high total, with my fair 57.5. It’s hard to line a total that high, but I can still see value in this one going over. Both teams believe defence is optional at the best of times, but with just two games left this season and not a lot to play for, both teams will be more than happy to let things fly, and this could get into the 70’s in my opinion. Bet the over and just enjoy a game of touch footy on Sunday arvo.

Fermor to Continue Try Scoring Form

Beau Fermor has been a juggernaut for the Titans for a few years now and paying anything $3.00+ is an auto bet in a game where 55+ points being scored is the expected outcome.

Leg 2: B Fermor (1+ try) – See Best Prop Bet.

Leg 3: J Marshall-King (1+ try) – Been in good try scoring form, scoring three in his past five games. With defensive intensity likely down for the Titans, look for JMK to exploit it when close to the line.
