Caulfield will host Saturday racing this week in the state of Victoria and despite the meeting being just a fair one, there are still plenty of winners to be found. Despite the main attention being on The Goodwood in South Australia, this meeting will attract large interest on the day. The track is predicted to be a Soft6 and gallopers will start the day with race one commencing at 12:10pm (AEST). It’s a nine race program and the quaddie legs are from races six to nine.
Brendan Bunworth brings us his best bets of the day and Quaddie tips below. Create an account with Picklebet and enjoy Top 4 racing to give you an extra place in every race!
Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, May 9th 2026
Race 7: Evergreen Turf Handicap 1440m - 3:40pm (AEST)
(5) Brave One is down in class and is second up this time and he is a winner second up previously. He goes well on rain affected ground and his first up run was better than it looked (9th) beaten 3.3L. Has drawn inside and will save some lengths if Jye McNeil sticks to the rails.
(3) Green Fly is an interesting runner who usually runs at the Warrnambool carnival but the Freedman stable has elected to run him at Caulfield. Does have a big finish.
(9) Give Me Space won’t want any worse than a Soft5 I reckon. Unplaced in both runs at Caulfield but has class and has Willow on.
(4) El Rocko was scratched at The Bool on Thursday when we fancied him.
(5) Brave One - WIN
$3.80 (2 units)
Race 8: Lamaro’s After The Last Handicap 2000m - 4:15pm (AEST)
(6) Immediacy has a tricky draw in 11 but does go well over this track&distance. Is very fit at the moment and does normally win one in every four starts. Is 1 from 1 on the Soft and he will go forward from the draw. Has been unlucky with barrier his last few, 17, 13, and 11. From barrier 17 he ran a good 3rd behind Ambassadorial at Caulfield on April 4.
(4) Etna Rosso has won over $800,000 in prizemoney and is a good horse on Soft tracks. Was near last here on April 11 over the mile but I reckon the step up to 2000m will suit.
(1) Land Legend ran a very good race last start (3rd) and he stormed home on that occasion. Does have to carry 60kg again but the Maher stable may have him right now.
(8) Pounding was scratched from The Bool on Thursday when we fancied him in the Cup.
(6) Immediacy - WIN
$6.00 (1 unit)
Race 9: Sportsbet Fixed Odds Exotics Handicap 1100m - 4:50pm (AEST)
(17) Marsept (3E) is the third emergency but if he gets a run he is a huge watch. We followed him last start when he was backed in from $1.40 to $1.14 and he saluted very easily at Geelong. Led and kicked clear to win by 3L with Jye McNeil on top. McNeil is on again and the Hawkes team will be keen to see him win again before they set their sights on the Spring.
(10) Swift Force is first up and has won both first up assignments previously. Last preparation he was a Hobart winner over 1200m and he was very consistent in that short prep. Goes well for Craig Newitt.
(9) Sun Setting has drawn inside and goes well second up. Has been in the money 10 of 13 starts and he will be running on late. Was 1.3L behind Tres Magnifique last starts and Tres has come out and since won again. Dakota Keane gets the 3kg claim.
(17) Marsept WIN
$3.30 (3 units)
