Canterbury returns for the first time in quite a while to host what looks like quite an interesting card on paper. There are a few runners we’ve identified as top chances throughout the day and they’re presented below, courtesy of Blake Lalor.

Canterbury Racing Tips - Wednesday, February 1st 2023
Race 1
Playing a straight bat to open the card on Wednesday with (4) The Little Pumper. He looks capable of leading and winning this race after running 2nd to Infatuation last time in Saturday grade.
(2) Militarize is on debut for a combination that must be respected in Waller and McDonald. The horse won his latest trial and looks capable of performing well here on debut.
(8) Queen Of Dragons has the benefit of race experience now and is drawn better than she was on debut. Craig Williams is a good booking and she can run well.
(4) The Little Pumper Win

Race 4
(1) Dynamic Impact was emphatic 1st up winning from back in the field before testing the water in Saturday grade against some talented horses last time. He’s back to the midweeks this time and gets blinkers reapplied so should be tough to beat.
(2) Game Theory is the obvious danger to Dynamic Impact although he was beaten quite comfortably the last time they met. Interesting to see if the tables can be turned even to just a smaller margin this time.
(3) Tawfiq Lass rounds out a fairly obvious top 3 for this race possessing far better 2nd up stats than he does 1st up. He wasn’t poor when returning but should definitely improve this time.
(1) Dynamic Impact Win

Race 5
(5) Field Legend has been progressing nicely in his short time as a racehorse. He’s stepping up in trip to 1900m this time which looks as though it will suit him the way he has been running out the mile. This is a competitive field and the favourites don’t stand out a whole lot.
(6) Karlstad has had a long wait for his next win having gone without one for 33 weeks now. He’s a consistent horse though so should have his chance in this.
(4) Knife’s Edge is meeting a stronger field today than he’s faced in the country cups but he’ll see out the 1900m and can get a very soft run from gate 1.
