Bunbury Racing Tips: Saturday, June 14th 2025
Race 1: PRINCE OF WALES HOTEL PLATE (1000 METRES) – 11:59am (1:59pm AEST)
(7) Pure Excess is one of four runners in the field of nine to have had one or more career starts. Prepared by Dan Morton, the two-year-old filly was excellent on debut when finishing third behind Flying Frankie. She absolutely savaged the line from well back down the Pinjarra Scarpside straight. A repeat performance will see Pure Excess hard to hold out.
(2) Baby Pearl is knocking on the door to break his maiden, and the set up here looks quite good. He should settle in the top two in running, just like his first two starts, and he will be trying to take advantage of a head start on his main rival. Expect him to be fighting out the finish.
(4) Cape Leeuwin is set to make his racing debut on the back of three trials (one of them recently). He was a winner over 400m which doesn’t tell too much. Prefer to see how he performs at his first career run before assessing going forward.

Race 2: DONNYBROOK GLASS HANDICAP (1000 METRES) – 12:34pm (2:34pm AEST)
(7) Desert Whisper has been runner up behind Kay Tee Why and Art Session in two runs this preparation, the latest was a 0.35-length margin. She loves to lead in her races and that will be Plan A once again with Lucy Fiore booked to ride. The three-year-old filly drops from 57kg to 54kg as she meets the older horses and that weight relief could prove the difference in going one better.
(5) My Hidden Universe broke his maiden at start number six, and he now chases a fifth-straight victory. It will be his second run this preparation and barrier two looks suitable. He remains at the 1000m rather than stepping up slightly in trip but will give a great account of himself again.
(3) Prospector’s Pick has won two from three this campaign with Pike in the saddle for all three runs. Not sure what Pike’s intentions will be from barrier seven, but the four-year-old gelding is versatile whether racing on speed or midfield.
(7) Desert Whisper

Race 7: RACONTEUR STAKES (1400 METRES) – 3:49pm (5:49pm AEST)
The feature race of the day is for the three-year-olds and a field of 12 have accepted for the Listed event.
(2) Storyville strips fitter from a first up seventh placing over 1200m in a Rating 78+ and stepping up to the 1400m will be preferable. She won the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) and Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) back in November which shows her class. You can forget she went around last time when she didn’t have any luck in the home straight. Can look to make amends here.
(3) Elite Missile is having his fifth run for the preparation, which includes a well-deserved last start win over Pond Master. From the wide draw, could be a long way back in the run and will need to produce his best to record back-to-back victories.
(4) Pond Master will be looking to turn the tables on Elite Missile. He backed up a week later after that defeat and was victorious in a thrilling finish with Earthstorm and Hez Got The Safe. Loses Pike who opts for Storyville which gives Lucy Fiore the ride. This horse is a model of consistency and can challenge them again.
