Big Bash League (BBL15) The Qualifier - Scorchers vs Sixers Betting Tips
Optus Stadium, Tuesday 20th January, 7:30pm AEDT
Perth Scorchers
The Scorchers could not have timed their surge any better. They secured top spot with a commanding win over the Stars in their final regular season game, producing a ruthless bowling display before cruising the chase. Jhye Richardson was unplayable with the ball, ripping through Melbourne with 4/16 as the Stars were dismissed for just 130.
With the bat, Perth were never under pressure. Finn Allen continued his blistering run of form with 69 off 39 at the top, while Aaron Hardie’s calm 41 ensured there were no late hiccups as the target was hunted down with 19 balls to spare. Everything is clicking for Perth right now and there is no reason to expect changes. Their balance with bat and ball looks as strong as it has at any point this season.
Sydney Sixers
The Sixers also arrive with momentum, having put aside a turbulent week to beat the Heat and lock in second place. Bowling first, they were electric early before slightly losing their grip late as Brisbane scrapped their way to 9/171. Mitch Starc was the standout, taking 4/35 and providing the cutting edge that has been missing at times this season.
The chase under pressure was once again defined by class at the top. Steve Smith added another composed innings with 54 off 40, while Sam Curran delivered the decisive blow late, smashing 53 off 27 to seal the win with eight balls remaining. The Sixers finally look close to full strength and dangerous, but they are still heavily driven by their star power rather than depth.
Match Prediction
Perth at home in finals has been the most reliable trend in Big Bash history and this version of the Scorchers feels as complete as any. Their batting line up is relentless, with genuine match winners running deep. It has not been one or two players carrying the load either. Allen, Hardie, Marsh and Turner have all produced innings of 94 or more this season, and Perth boast three players inside the top seven run scorers for the tournament. That level of spread makes them incredibly hard to shut down across 20 overs.
The Sixers absolutely have the talent to challenge them, especially with Smith, Starc and Curran peaking at the right time, but there is still a sense that too much responsibility rests on Smith to control the innings. Against a Perth attack that can hurt you in short bursts and a batting group that punishes any lapse, that margin feels thin. At Optus Stadium, with everything on the line, Perth look built to thrive. Back the Scorchers to defend home turf and book their place in a record ninth Big Bash Final.

BBL Scorchers vs Sixers Prop Bet
For the player prop, Finn Allen remains the obvious angle. He is in a rare vein of form, averaging 42.3 this season with a century and two fifties across nine innings. His last three scores of 38, 101 and 69 underline just how damaging he has been at the top, and on a fast Perth deck with finals intensity, he looks primed to make another major impact.
