Following the Melbourne Cup Carnival, horse racing now turns its attention to the west with Ascot hosting several Group 1 features, starting next week. On Saturday, we have three Group 3 events, and two Listed races.
The rail is out three metres for the entire circuit, and the track is listed as a Soft 5 on Friday, but temperatures will be around 23 and sunny, so expect to race on a Good track. Don’t forget the three-hour time difference for those in Victoria and New South Wales.
Trent Orwin brings us his free preview and Ascot racing tips from Western Australia's metro meeting on Saturday. And don't forget to head to our racing tips page for racing coverage from all around the country this Saturday.
Ascot Racing Tips: Saturday, November 15th 2025
Race 3: PKF Perth Handicap (1800m) – 1:11pm (4:11pm AEDT)
(12) Dandy’s Gem is very deep into her preparation and continues to race well, with three minor placings leading into a last-start victory at Belmont over 2100m. She does drop back to the 1800m but draws well and will be in the first three in running. Carries just 54.5kg also which looks terrific. The four-year-old has been runner up at the track also from two attempts and appeals at double figure odds.
(10) Summer’s Legacy represents the powerful Grant and Alana Williams, and Willie Pike combination. Another last start winner in the race, the four-year-old mare proved much too good over 1650m at Belmont. The step up in distance suits once again as she was fourth in the Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) behind Machine Gun Gracie in April. She will drop out and sizzle home in this company.
(15) Mississippi Dawn was victorious three starts ago over 1400m at Bunbury. She then finished third at Ascot over the 1800m before running 10th last time out. She is not out of this with some luck in running – the same can be said for half the field as this is a wide-open race.

Race 6: Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m) – 3:05pm (6:05pm AEDT)
(1) Jokers Grin captured the $5 million Quokka in April. Trainer Bernie Miller set the five-year-old gelding a first up task in the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) and he passed with flying colours, proving too good for Oscar’s Fortune. The pair will do battle again – happy to side with the class runner, although he meets the runner up 2kg worse at the weights for the rematch. Looks very hard to beat.
(4) Oscar’s Fortune will map ahead of Jokers Grin in the run and will be trying to use that advantage and the swing in the weights to topple the favourite. This horse is clearly the main danger and with Pike in the saddle, you are going to get a good run for your money.
(6) Repossession, like the above two, also comes out of the Prince Of Wales Stakes, when finishing third. He finished last campaign with a hat-trick of wins and performs well second up from a spell. Can certainly run a nice race here.

Race 8: W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) – 4:20pm (7:20pm AEDT)
(1) Talkanco has won four of eight career starts and was an excellent second behind Playin’it Sweet in the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes. Talkanco carried 58kg compared to 55.5kg from the winner, and now they meet on level terms at 56kg. Barrier two looks good for the three-year-old filly and she is going to be right on the speed. Can go one better.
(2) Playin’it Sweet draws a lot worse than the Burgess Queen run and with a negative weight swing against her compared to Talkanco, she is going to have to cover a lot more ground. She is pretty smart though with five wins from eight career starts, so expect her to still be dangerous if things pan out.
(8) Moonwalk finished fifth in the Burgess Queen Stakes and the extra trip looks good. The inside gate should see Pike more aggressive early looking for a position and she looks right in this contest. She has beaten home Playin’it Sweet previously and looks the best outside of the leading duo.
(1) Talkanco WIN
