Ascot Coast Racing Tips: Saturday, May 10th 2025

Race 3: AZURE PAINTING HANDICAP (1000 METRES) – 12:49pm (2:49pm AEST)

(2) Toropa was a first up winner for new trainer Stephen Miller over course and distance on April 19. The four-year-old mare entered that race without a trial, and she settled midfield in the run before running down the leaders to win by a half-length ahead of Golden Vale. Regular jockey Brad Parnham will ride again and from barrier three he will be looking to settle in a similar position. She will carry 59kg this time around, but with added fitness under her belt, she can prove hard to beat.

(1) Wind And The Lion returns from a spell and the three-year-old gelding has had a pair of trials leading into the event. He captured the Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) back in November before another placing in Listed company and then finishing 13th in the Group 3 Gold Rush (1400m). From barrier one, he may end up well back, so prefer to see what he produces first up.

(7) Celestial Storm is another horse resuming from a spell and she was last seen on January 18 when running fourth over 1100m. She hasn’t had a trial but gets the services of William Pike and looks right in the mix.

(2) Toropa

$2.80 (2 units)

Race 4: PRESTIGE PROPERTY MAINTENANCE HANDICAP (1600 METRES) – 1:26pm (3:26pm AEST)

(7) Awesome Boy ran like his name suggested last time out when jumping well and pressing forward to take up the running, in an awesome frontrunning display. He won by nearly three lengths ahead of Sixinch Heels who entered the race on the back of four-straight wins. Prepared by trainer Bruce Kay, Awesome Boy is going to press forward from barrier seven and has options, whether they look to lead again or try and settle just behind a horse like Allegro Sonata or Dennis Choux.

(4) Mojo’s Luck settled well back last start when resuming. He didn’t have much luck until later in the straight when rocketing home to grab sixth, beaten just under a length by I’m Crafty and Dennis Choux. With more luck this time around, he can be right in the finish.

(6) Dennis Choux has been knocking on the door lately with back-to-back minor placings. The seven-year-old gelding is rock-hard fit and should run another strong race on an each-way basis.

(7) Awesome Boy

$2.00 (3 units)

Race 5: OBAN GROUP HANDICAP (2200 METRES) – 2:04pm (4:04pm AEST)

(2) Fine Touch has notched consecutive wins over the 1800m, with both victories coming at handy odds ($31 and $5). The five-year-old mare steps up to 2200m for the first time, she has run over 2100m once, and from barrier eight, Joey Azzopardi is going to race on the pace. This looks a competitive race; however, winning form is good form as they say and represents nice value in search of the hat-trick.

(1) Fat Roy Slim looks the obvious danger with the class runner of the field coming off a runner up performance behind Filthy Habits in the Rogan Josh Stakes (2100m). He is going to give Fine Touch a head start but will be dangerous late with Pike aboard.

(10) Zaza Rock finished five lengths behind Fine Touch two starts back before finishing second in the Diggers Cup (1800m). They would love to settle midfield, and she can finish off well as she is placed over the distance previously.

(2) Fine Touch

$6.50 (1 unit)

Race 8: WA SIRES PRODUCE STAKES (1400 METRES) – 4:10pm (6:10pm AEST)

(5) Snitzalatte has won two of her three career starts and she was excellent in defeat behind Talkanco and Just Too Fly in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m). She should relish a smaller field of eight rivals compared to the 15 that opposed her in the Karrakatta. Willie Pike returns to the saddle after riding Yes Queen last time instead; Pike has won both times on Snitzalatte. Barrier two is suitable and she can let fly at them late.

(3) Deltason finished midfield three starts ago behind Luana Miss and Yes Queen before being placed on April 19. He then smashed inferior opposition over the 1400m to break his maiden status. Looks to be right in the mix with more race experience under the belt.

(1) Just Too Fly has been placed in all three career starts without winning. Prepared by Luke Fernie, the two-year-old colt finished second in the Karrakatta Plate and stepping up to 1400m looks like a nice natural progression. Big showing expected from the colt.

(5) Snitzalatte

$2.70 (2 units)
