PGA Tour: Wyndham Championship Betting Tips
Sedgefield Country Club, Thursday 8th - Sunday August 11th
Most of the big guns are taking time off after the British Open and Olympics, but a quality field has still been assembled for the Wyndham Championship, where the market has Sungjae Im as favourite after good efforts in recent PGA events.
Despite no real star power, quality players are set to their place, including major winner Shane Lowry.
The Field
As stated above, the big guns are on holiday and resting up for the latter part of 2024, but there is still quality set to take their place, with the biggest name arguably being major winner Jordan Spieth, who hasn't really fired a shot in some time but when he does turn it on, he is one of the best in the world.
The Course
The Sedgefield Country Club is an 18 hole course, which has a total distance of 7127 yards (6517 metres). Par for the course is 70 and across the eighteen holes, there are four Par 3's, four Par 5's and ten Par 4's. The length of the course can be tricky for some so if a birdie opportunity arises, it needs to be taken.
That said, since 2014, the lowest score that has won the title is -15, so despite the length, the players can negate and score.
Betting Tips
Matt Kuchar ($76/Top 20 $4 at Betfair)
He has had a couple of hiccups in 2024, but for the most part, he has been playing quite consistently. Good effort at the US Open earlier in the year and did show good signs in the 3M Open last time he stepped out. He is a player who can find the fairway and greens quite often and in a field where the depth isn't deep, I think he's great value.
Cam Davis ($41/Top 20 $3.20 at Betfair)
The Aussie has found real form in recent weeks. He won a few weeks ago and does seem to play well on courses designed by Donald Ross, who is the designer of the Sedgefield course. He finished in a tie for seventh last year in this tournament but I feel is playing much better 12 months ago.
Billy Horschel ($26/Top 20 $2.50 at Betfair)
He is one of the safer options IMO. He has finished top six at Sedgefield in three of the past four editions of this tournament, and did finish in a tie for second at the British Open, so he is a golfer in just about career best form and he only has to hold that form to be one of the leading contenders.
