AFL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
GWS vs St Kilda
Sunday 4.40pm, May 21st, GIANTS Stadium
The Saints started the season in blistering fashion but have dropped away slightly in the last few weeks, losing three of their last five games, albeit to tough opposition in the Pies, Power and Crows. Defensively, they have been rock solid, which kept them in the first two losses right until the dying stages, however, their back six broke down last week as they allowed 100+ points for the first time this season to the Crows last week.
An infusion of talent was what the Saints needed and they got it at the selection table this week, with star forward Max King set to make his season debut after a long stint on the sidelines with a shoulder injury. Also returning to the side this week is reliable defender Jimmy Webster as well as jade Gresham, who missed last week with a knee complaint.
The Giants are just 3-6 on the season so far but have been competitive in the majority of their games, up until last week when they were blown out to the tune of 65 points by the Magpies. They’ll be looking to bounce back as star forward and skipper Toby Greene is reinserted into the line-up after a few weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The Saints start as 6.5 point favourites on the road and I’m taking them at that line. Agreeing with coach Ross Lyon and happy to write last week off as a mulligan I think they will be back on their game defensively this week and the addition of Max King will make them so much more potent going forward. Back them to knock off the Giants on the road.

Anthony Caminiti 1+ Goal – The rookie forward has been in great form to start his AFL campaign, kicking at least one goal in five of his six games so far and totalling 9. I think he will get even more opportunity this week as he slides onto the 2nd best key defender with the addition of King.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 20+ Disposals – The young defender has taken up the mantle as the quarterback out of Saints defensive 50 this season and is doing the job superbly so far. Had a quieter week with just 16 disposals last week, mainly due to a reduced number of kickouts because of Adelaide’s above average accuracy. Should be back in the numbers this week, has broken 20+ in four of his last six games.
Jack Sinclair 25+ Disposals – Has been without doubt the standout player for the Saints so far this season, averaging 27.7 touches at fantastic efficiency across half back and through the midfield. Has had 25 touches in seven of nine games this year and recorded 25 against the Giants last season.
