August 11th 2020, 3:55pm, By: Andy Rosos

Wyndham Championship Betting Tips

What a fantastic weekend it was in golf last week as young star Collin Morikawa won the first major of the season, the PGA Championship! The PGA Tour continues this week as we head to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina for the annual Wyndham Championship!

Check out our full preview and betting tips for the 2020 Wyndham Championship below, and remember to head to our Golf Betting Tips page for regular weekly PGA Tour articles.

Wyndham Championship Betting Tips

It’s a little one week respite for golfers this week as the PGA Championship winds down and the FedExCup Playoffs begin next week! For some, however, the Wyndham Championship will be super important as it is the last chance they will have to jump into the top 125 on the FedEx Cup standings and qualify for the Northern Trust next week.

The Field

Brooks Koepka was outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings but solid performances in the last two weeks at the WGC event followed by the PGA Championship have catapulted him into 92nd place. He’ll be hunting more points this week though, as he headlines the field for the Wyndham Championship.

Alongside Brooks at the top of the betting markets are Webb Simpson, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Paul Casey. The last three of them are also in the hunt for FedEx Cup points, all currently sitting outside the top 50 in the leaderboard.

The Course

Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina will be the host of the Wyndham Championship once again this season. The course is a 7,127, Par 70 that opened in 1926 and serves as a regular stop on the PGA Tour. Distance isn’t a massive issue at Sedfield but dialled in iron play on approach is, as the Donald Ross designed course features very small and hard to locate green complexes.

Good course management and strong play from tee-to-green will be important at Sedgefield, and we’ll be targeting top players in greens in regulation percentage, strokes gained on approach and strokes gained from tee-to-green.

Power Rankings

1 - Webb Simpson ($11.00)

When it comes to his record at Sedgefield, Simpson has been as dominant as a player could possibly be at a single course. Through his last 10 starts at Sedgefield, his record reads, 8th, 1st, 22nd, 11th, 5th, 6th, 72nd, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd. His scoring average in his last 12 rounds at Sedgefield is 65.25, incredible.

2 - Justin Rose ($21.00)

Rose has been hunting form since making his return from the break and he finally found it on the weekend at the PGA Championship, finishing T9 on the back of a hot weekend with the putter. He has played Sedgefield just once before, a T5 finish back in 2009 but the course will set up very well for him this week.

3 – Kevin Kisner ($41.00)

Kis also had a solid week at the PGA Championship, finishing T19, his best result in over a month. He’s made Sedgefield a stomping ground over the years, including a T8 in 2014 and a T10 in 2016 and has never missed the cut in five starts.

4 – Brandt Snedeker ($51.00)

Made the cut at the PGA Championship last week, a solid improvement after a disappointing restart to the PGA Tour season. Has a fantastic record at the Wyndham Championship, including five top 10 finishes since 2009 and a win in 2018 highlighted by the record 59 in the first round.

5 – Brooks Koepka ($12.00)

There’s nothing more dangerous than Brooks Koepka when he has something to play for. This week, he needs FedExCup points. He currently sits in 92nd place but will be hoping to jump into at least the top 70 if not higher to ensure that he gives himself a good chance at qualifying for the second playoff event, the BMW Championship. If you take out his fourth round +4 at the PGA Championship on the weekend, he has shot 17 under par in his last seven rounds. Is no doubt back in form.

Best Bet – Kevin Kisner

Kis looks to be the best value of our top power rankings this week. Has played a lot of golf at Sedgefield and will know his way around the course. The Donald Ross greens always have massive undulation and Kisner is one of the best putters in the world. Love the value of him to finish in the top 20.
