German Bundesliga Week 1
Bayern Munich vs Hertha Berlin (Saturday 4:30am AEST)
The Bundesliga gets underway this weekend with Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin kicking off proceedings. Bayern Munich are the reigning champions of Germany after winning the title in 2019 for the seventh consecutive season. Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski will again spearhead the attack in search of his fifth Golden Boot award.
Hertha Berlin were a mid-tier team last season and finished in 11th position on the table. They will be hoping to get off to a great start like in previous seasons where they’ve won five of their last six week one matches. New signing Dodi Lukebakio will be hoping to achieve similar success vs Bayern Munich as he had last yeah where he scored four goals against them.
There’s just about no greater task in club world soccer than to take on Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena. The reigning Bundesliga champions are the red-hot favourites to kick off their 2019-20 campaign with a big home win and we’re all for it. Spanish La Liga Week 1
Athletic Club Bilbao vs Barcelona (Saturday 5am AEST)
The La Liga will begin on Saturday morning with Athletic Club Bilbao hosting reigning champions Barcelona. Bilbao are coming off a fairly successful season where they finished in strong fashion, winning four and drawing one of their last five fixtures. They’re now set to play La Liga champions Barcelona in the first match day of the season for the third time in the past five seasons.
Barcelona were a dominant force in the league last season and won the title by finishing 11 points clear of the second placed Atletico Madrid. Barca won 26 and lost just three of their La Liga matches and were once ahead spearheaded by superstars Leo Messi and Luis Suarez.
Athletic Cub Bilbao vs Barcelona fixtures have been full of cards in their previous encounters and we expect another feisty affair this time around. In terms of a result, we expect Barcelona to hold the slight edge but won’t have it all their own way. The champs to win and under 3.5 goals is our play here.

French Ligue 1 Week 2
Rennes vs Paris Saint Germain (Monday 5am AEST)
French Ligue 1 returns for week two this weekend with the key fixture being Rennes vs Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on Monday morning. Rennes were a mid-table team last year, finishing in 10th position on the table. They got their 2019-20 campaign off to a perfect start with a 1-0 away win over Montpellier. Jeremy Morel was the hero with his 6thminute goal.
As the always do, PSG dominated Ligue 1 last year to finish first and 16 points clear of the second placed Lille. The French giants started the new season how they finished the last, recording a dominant 3-0 win over Nimes. Cavani, Mbappe, and Di Maria all found themselves on the score sheet.
PSG have won 11 of their past 12 Ligue 1 meetings with Rennes, including seven of the past eight on the road. They’ve also kicked 20 goals in their last five away fixtures vs Rennes and there’s no reason why they won’t bang in another three or four this time around. PSG 1.5 looks a great value play here.
