2018-19 NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday 15th January

January 14th 2019, 6:28pm, By: admin

We had just the one winner from our three NBA betting tips on Saturday, but it was still a profitable week nonetheless. We now return our focus to our weekly Tuesday tips and look to build on a really good start for us in 2019. As always, good luck to everyone following!

NBA Betting Tips Tuesday January 15th

Boston Celtics @ Brooklyn Nets (11:30am AEDT)

Our first play of the day comes from the intriguing Eastern Conference match-up between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season. The Celtics won the first meeting in Boston by 21 points last week.

The Celtics enter this game in a little bit of a funk after losing each of their past two road games against the Magic and Heat. There has been a little bit of tension in the camp over the past couple of weeks, but Jaylen Brown stated recently that it’s nothing more than everyone being ultra-competitive and wanting to win. As it stands, the Celtics are in fifth position in the Eastern Conference standings with a 25-17 record.

The Nets come into this contest in some indifferent form themselves, having lost two of their last three games. Their most recent loss came in Toronto where they were simply outgunned from the opening tip. The Nets are now in seventh position in the East with a 21-23 record.

We’re not buying into all the drama supposedly taking place in the Celtics camp. The frustration is there, no doubt, but if anything we expect to see their stars play even harder. We see the Celtics winning this comfortably in a bit of a statement game.

Detroit Pistons @ Utah Jazz (1pm AEDT)

Second up on Tuesday we’re taking a look at the Detroit Pistons at Utah Jazz game. This will be the second and final game between these two teams this season. The Jazz won the first encounter by five points in Detroit just over a week ago.

The Pistons were able to snap a four game losing streak against the Clippers last time out, thanks to a huge night from former Clippers superstar Blake Griffin. You could tell that one meant a lot to a man that remains bitter about the whole situation. Despite the win however, the Pistons are still down in 10th position in the East with a disappointing 18-23 record.

The Jazz look to have hit their straps in a similar position to last year, and have now won three on the spin and five of their last six. A lot of their recent success has come from the improved play of second year player Donovan Mitchell, who has scored at a very efficient clip during this stretch. The Jazz have now improved to 23-21 on the season and are in ninth spot in the West.

The Jazz match up really well against the Pistons and have the defensive stoppers to take away their main source of offense in Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. On the other hand, the Pistons don’t have a good match-up for Donovan Mitchell, who has been on a tear of late. We expect the Jazz to cover the line quite comfortably here.

Utah Jazz -7.5

Portland Trail Blazers @ Sacramento Kings (2pm AEDT)

The third and final play we’re recommending on Tuesday comes from the Western Conference duel between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings. Again, this will be the second meeting between these teams this season. The Trail Blazers needed overtime to beat the Kings in their first duel in Sacramento two weeks prior to this game.

The Trail Blazers four game winning streak came to an end on Monday when they fell to the Nuggets by three points on the road. It was a disappointing result, but a decent performance nonetheless. They now sit at 26-18 for the season, which has them in fourth spot in the stacked Western Conference.

The Kings are on a two game winning streak heading into this home game, thanks to wings against the Pistons and Hornets. They continue to surprise everyone with their mature style of play and consistency from game to game. The Kings are one game over .500 and are half a game outside of the playoff picture in the West.

The Trail Blazers face one of the most difficult tasks in the NBA on Tuesday - playing the second game of a back-to-back after playing at altitude in Denver the day prior. Meanwhile, the Kings are well rested and come into this in solid form. We believe they will be too good for the Blazers on this occasion.

Sacramento Kings -2
