2018-19 NBA Betting Tips: Saturday 5th January

NBA Betting Tips Saturday January 5^th

Dallas Mavericks @ Boston Celtics (12pm AEDT)

The first of three 12pm games we’ve taken an interest in is the Dallas Mavericks at Boston Celtics match-up. The Mavericks won the first game between these teams this season by nine points at home. This will be the second and final meeting between them this season.

The Mavericks surprised everyone including ourselves with their huge road win in their last outing. After going 2-16 in their previous travels this season, they put the Hornets to the sword by 38 points last time out. Luka Doncic continues to shine in his rookie season and has even found himself in the mix for an All-Star selection.

The Celtics also won their last game comfortably, defeating the Timberwolves at home by 13 points. Despite that win, the season hasn’t gone exactly to plan for the fifth placed team in the East, although they have been relatively strong at home with a 12-5 record.

We’re prepared to take on the Mavericks again here and put down their last road win as an anomaly. They haven’t strung road wins together all season, so we’re very happy to take the Celtics at a reasonable line at the TD Garden.

Orlando Magic @ Minnesota Timberwolves (12pm AEDT)

The second game we’ve found value in on Saturday is the cross-conference battle between the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Timberwolves. This meeting in Minnesota will be the first clash between these teams this season.

The Magic continue to tread water in the Eastern Conference with a 17-20 record, which has them in 10^th place in the standings. Their fans must be going mad with their inconsistency, which has seen them defeat terrific teams on the road, only to lose to lottery teams on their home deck. The positive for the Magic is there’s still over half the season to get things clicking.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have had much the same season as their opponents here. They’re similarly placed in 13^th spot in the Western Conference standings, and have an almost identical record at 17-21. One positive for the T-Wolves has been their protection of home court, where they’re 12-6 on the season.

We’re taking the home team at a similar spread again here, favouring the Timberwolves to get the job done. They have the best player on the court in KAT, and have a proven record on their home deck.

Minnesota Timberwolves -5.5

Washington Wizards @ Miami Heat (12pm AEDT)

The third and final game we like from the 10-game Saturday slate is the Eastern Conference match-up between the Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat. These teams have already faced off twice this season, with the series tied at 1-1.

All eyes are on John Wall, Bradley Beal and the Wizards front office with just a few weeks to go before trade deadline. What they’ve currently got just isn’t working, so they’ll most likely look to cash in on one of their star pieces while the value is still relatively high. As it stands, the Wizards are in 11^th spot in the East with a miserable 15-23 record.

On the other hand, the Heat are looking to go above .500 for the first time in over two months when they host the Wizards on Saturday. They’ve been able to string together a couple of decent performances to propel themselves to sixth spot in the East at 18-18. They’ve won seven of their last nine and a great chance to improve on that here.

We’re continuing the days trend by taking the home favourite to cover the spread once again here. With all that’s going on in Washington at the moment, we feel the pressure on the road will be too much for them against a hungry Heat outfit in this one.
