2017 Moto GP: Grand Prix Deutschland Betting Tips

June 29th 2017, 12:41am, By: andyrosos

The 2017 Moto GP season continues this weekend as the tour heads to Germany for the Deutschland Grand Prix on Sunday night. We recap the weekend’s Dutch GP and give our preview and betting tips for Germany below.

The 2017 Moto GP’s standings leader prior to the Dutch GP, Maverick Vinales, suffered a crash he described to be ‘the strangest of his career’ in Holland, and subsequently relinquished the top place on the leader board to inform Andrea Dovizioso.

The Italian finished 5th to leapfrog Vinales at the top of the table but it was Dovizioso’s compatriot, Valentino Rossi who came out victorious on the day, claiming his 89th GP win and moving him to within just 7 points of the lead.

The tour stays in the Eastern part of Europe this weekend as Saxony plays host to the German Moto GP. Sachsenring, the track that has been used for the Grand Prix Deutschland since 1998 is an 8.6km track which is one of the shortest and slowest tracks on the Moto GP tour.

Fourth placed on the standings, Marc Marquez has won the last four German Moto GP’s at the Sachsenring and also won on his three previous trips to Germany, one in Moto3 and two in Moto2.

The fact that he is unbeaten in his last seven trips and desperately needs a good finish to make a stamp on the standings going forward has us leaning towards Marquez here. Apart from two retirements, the Spanish rider has failed to finish below sixth this season and we expect him to do well again here.

TIP: Marc Marquez to win - $2.37 at bet365

Aussie Jack Miller was extremely stiff to miss on a top five finish last week in the Netherlands. The two week stretch through Holland and Germany was by far Miller’s strongest performance last year, finishing with a 1st and a 7th place respectively. A few things have to go his way but a top five finish on one of his best tracks isn’t beyond the Aussie here.

TIP: Jack Miller top five finish – Prices to come

The other value play here could be British rider Cal Crutchlow. Crutchlow’s performance at the German Moto GP last year was one of his best of the year, coming second to Marquez. Crutchlow has been good for a few podium finishes every year since his debut in 2011 and could go close against here.

TIP: Cal Crutchlow to finish top five – Prices to come
