2017-18 NBA Preview & Betting Tips for Thursday, 7th December
Detroit Pistons At Milwaukee Bucks (12:00pm AEDT)
The Pistons will look to end their 4-game road trip with a win when they face the Bucks in this Eastern Conference showdown. They are currently on a season-worst 3-game losing streak after falling short against the Wizards, 76ers and Spurs. Andre Drummond has continued to shine and is having a career year with averages of 14.1 points, 15 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
The Bucks have had an inconsistent 2017-18 season to date and are coming off a 111-100 road loss to the Celtics, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo pouring in 40 points on 58% shooting. As usual, Giannis was able to consistently get to the basket and take advantage of the undersized Celtics, however, Drummond’s size and strength in the paint will make things a lot harder for the Greek Freak in this one.
We are expecting the Pistons to snap their losing streak and finish their road trip with an emphatic win in Milwaukee. Bradley’s perimeter defence and Drummond’s interior defence should keep Giannis out of rhythm for the most part, resulting in the Pistons having the edge when it’s all said and done.
TIP: Detroit Pistons to win - $2.50 at Ladbrokes
Golden State Warriors At Charlotte Hornets (12:00pm AEDT)
The reigning champions have responded after their shock loss to the Kings to win four straight on the road. They will play the Hornets on Thursday in the fifth of their season-high 6-game road trip. The Warriors comeback win over the Pelicans on Tuesday was a bittersweet one, with two-time MVP Steph Curry picking up an ankle injury that will see him on the sidelines for an extended period of time.
The Hornets snapped a 4-game losing streak when they defeated the Magic by 10 points in their return home on Tuesday. Although the Hornets currently hold a dismal 9-13 record, only three of those losses have been at home where they are 8-3 through eleven games. With Dwight Howard in good form and Kemba Walker now back to full health we believe the Hornets will start to chalk up a few more wins and climb the standings in the weak Eastern Conference.
The defending champions are always vulnerable without their MVP point guard, especially on the road. This leads us to believe the Hornets are a big chance of claiming an upset win over the Warriors on Thursday.
TIP: Charlotte Hornets to win - $2.82 at Sportsbet
Minnesota Timberwolves At Los Angeles Clippers (2:30pm AEDT).
Unsurprisingly, the Timberwolves have been extremely inconsistent in the early part of the season. All newly formed star-studded teams take a while to get going and the Timberwolves are no exception. They haven’t strung consecutive wins together in their last ten games and are coming off a 3-point loss to the Grizzlies on Tuesday. However, they’ll have a big chance to bounce back when they take on the undermanned Clippers on Thursday.
The Clippers have been forced to dig deep into their roster in order to put a team on the court in recent games. They continue to be without star-forward Blake Griffin, as well as starting point guard Patrick Beverley and small forward Danilo Gallinari. They are now 8-14 for the season and are on a 3-game losing streak.
The Timberwolves come into this contest as the clear favourites and for good reason. Even without injuries they still have the better roster, but when you take Blake Griffin out of the equation it just becomes that much clearer. We expect the Timberwolves to win and win big.
TIP: Minnesota Timberwolves at the line (-5.5) - $1.89 at CrownBet
