Wentworth Park offers a fantastic card of greyhound racing this Saturday, the 20th of April including the Golden Easter Egg Final! Trent Orwin is back to preview the key races of the night and give his betting tips below.
The Ladbrokes Magic Maiden Final over the 520m looks a very competitive race and I like the price about His Ticking from box two. A winner in 30.21, His Ticking should be able to stay close to race favourite Really Unreal at the start. The favourites best time so far at the track is 30.34, around two lengths slower than His Ticking. Blanco Caliente has broken 30 seconds from box one; being out in six will be tougher as shown by her second behind Really Unreal on April 10.
Buck’s Future still recorded a 29.95 last start despite being last out and running home to finish fifth. Prior to that he won a FFA in 29.59 which comfortably wins this race. He recorded a 5.44 first sectional when recording that quick time. Back in January, Buck’s Future defeated Blue Moon Rising in 29.70 and was second to Poke The Bear in 29.58. This looks a great race for him and he should go very close at really nice odds.
The Association Cup is held over 720m and the greyhound they call Batman, who goes by the racing name of Tornado Tears, will take a power of beating after recording a track-record 41.38 in his heat. He scored by 6.5L over Poco Dorado after leading all of the way from box two. The runner up came from box eight and was second-in-running for most of the race. Box six hasn’t been kind to Tornado Tears with two starts producing no placings, which is surprising considering his career record sits at 34: 23-4-1 and more than $600,000 in prize money. Tornado Tears is short odds but he should get the job done.
The winner receives $250,000 in prize money and a stellar field has qualified for the final. Looking at the last five runs for each greyhound, only two of the 40 starts have been unplaced which shows the excellent form that each dog is in. Federal Lilly can fly out of the boxes and that will be crucial for her in this race as she comes up with box five. If she lands in front of Black Opium at the start, she is going to take some catching. Her track and distance record read eight starts for six wins and she has so far recorded 29.45 and 29.65 victories in the series. She is racing in top form and looks the best chance in the race. Black Opium, Blue Striker and Miss Splendamiro are big threats and that trio are more than capable of winning the Golden Easter Egg Final.
