UFC Fight Night: Ladd vs Dumont Betting Tips

October 16th 2021, 1:26pm, By: Ben Talintyre

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Aspen Ladd and Norma Dumont headline this weekend’s Fight Night card as both look to add to their winning streaks. In the co-main Heavyweights Andre Arlovski and Carlos Felipe go toe to toe while UFC veteran Jim Miller faces UFC newcomer Erick Gonzalez.

The card may not be full of notable names but there are plenty of intriguing stylistic match ups such as Manon Fiorot and Mayra Bueno to quench the thirst of MMA fans. Let’s take a look at my three best bets on the card below.

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Aspen Ladd vs Norma Dumont

Aspen Ladd finds herself a new opponent here in Norma Dumont. I must say I am getting seriously worried about Ladd’s weight cuts and she subsequently has been forced to move up a weight division to fight Dumont here. That begs a lot of questions such as will this diminish her wrestling advantage and will she be able to be as dominant at Featherweight.

Norma Dumont was knocked out in the first round by Megan Anderson in her UFC but has since bounced back nicely with consecutive wins. Interestingly Dumont suffered with weight cut issues at Bantamweight much like Ladd. Ladd was originally scheduled to face Macy Chiasson two weeks ago, before her failed weight cut, while Dumont was originally booked to take on Holly Holm. There are so many unanswered questions here for Ladd coming off ACL and MCL surgery, not fighting for almost two years and fighting for the first time up a weight class, yet I am still inclined to back her. I believe Ladd is the better wrestler of the two and I don’t see her giving Dumont any space here. While I do believe Dumont’s wrestling is underrated, I just see Ladd pushing an insane pace and as long as the weight cutting debacle hasn’t completely destroyed her body, she secures a dominant decision or ground and pound stoppage. I really hope Ladd and her team can put it all together as I believe she has potential to be a champion if she can get all the little things right.

Aspen Ladd to win

Jim Miller vs Erick Gonzalez

Jim Miller is an ultra-tough veteran who has been in the UFC since 2008. In the past few years Miller seems to either get beat by decision or pull out a slick submission. Erick Gonzalez makes his UFC debut here and I honestly feel this is the type of opponent that is perfect for Miller to catch in a submission. Gonzalez has been plying his trade on the regional circuit before this and to meet Jim Miller is a massive step up in opposition. This truly just looks like an opponent being fed directly to Jim Miller. Gonzalez is an opponent he can finish from anywhere on the ground and I believe the price around a Miller submission is generous.

Jim Miller by submission

Manon Fiorot vs Mayra Bueno

The odds around Fiorot aren’t anything spectacular so I am leaning a different way in this fight, despite favouring Fiorot. Fiorot comes into this bout 2-0 in the UFC, both of which were impressive knockouts. The test for Fiorot will be a top grappler and Bueno fits the bill.

Mayra Bueno, for mine the best grappler Fiorot has fought in her MMA career. Bueno’s last three wins have all come by submission and Fiorot will be in trouble if the fight hits the ground. I personally love the bet of this fight to not go the distance. Both women are finishers in their own right and both have defensive deficiencies in their opponent’s strong area. This is a fight I am intrigued to see play out and am backing it to end within the distance with a fair level of confidence.

Fight to go the distance: No
