Saturday Racing: Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes Betting Tips

September 3rd 2016, 10:05am, By: tim_tips

Spring has sprung as we are set for a massive day of racing coming up this Saturday, September 3rd and there is no race bigger than the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes!

Our horse racing tips specialist @Tim_Tips has his picks for every race at Moonee Valley Randwick, along with a detailed preview of the feature race of the day!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips - Saturday, Sep. 3rd

Race 1 - Kaniana (Bet Bet)
Race 2 - Raw Impulse
Race 3 - Hey Doc
Race 4 - Vostok
Race 5 - Sheidel
Race 6 - Piccadillies
Race 7 - Keen Array
Race 8 - The United States (Full Preview Below)
Race 9 - Aloft (Best Value)

Best Bet: Race 1 - Kaniana

Looks a fairly moderate race and Kaniana's win last start in this grade was good enough to suggest she can go on with it today. Oliver and Weir an ominous combination, drawn well and 1/1 at this track and distance.

Best Value: Race 9 - Aloft

Interesting runner for Lloyd Williams and the booking of Oliver is once again noticeable. On debut in Australia and his form in the UK would see him beat plenty of these. Gelded since his last race, drawn well, weighted well and looks a decent bet at $7.50.

Randwick Racing Tips - Saturday, Sep. 3rd

Race 1 - Signposted
Race 2 - Dubaiinstyle
Race 3 - Swear
Race 4 - Galaxy Warrior
Race 5 - Tsaritsa
Race 6 - Foxplay (Best Value)
Race 7 - Hartnell (Best Bet)
Race 8 - Le Romain
Race 9 - Japonisme

Best Bet: Race 7 - Hartnell

Excellent first up run behind Winx and with her scratched from the race he really does look very well placed here. Prized Icon carries 8.5kg less but I'm not convinced he is quite as good as the market suggests and I'm always wary of a 3YO in Open company.

Best Value: Race 6 - Foxplay

Was beaten narrowly by Awoke last start and the two meet again here, with Foxplay getting a 3kg weight swing in her favour. Drawn well, should handle the track and $8 looks a good each way price.

Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes 1600m - Group 2

The Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes headlines the card at Moonee Valley today, with the winner set to gain automatic entry to the Cox Plate on October 22.

A field of 14 is set to line up over the 1600m in what looks to be an incredibly open race.

The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m.

Let's go through the runners:

TOSEN STARDOM: Japanese import having his first start for Darren Weir. Ran 2nd to Contributer during The Championships in 2015. His record says he's never placed from three goes over 1600m but he was only beaten 3 lengths by Maurice last year, which is tremendous form for this. If he is ready to fire first up he's a definite chance.

THE UNITED STATES: Took a huge step up last preparation when turning into a genuine WFA Group 1 horse. Winner of the Ranvet Stakes before finishing runner up in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. 2000m is his best distance but with the tempo expected here he may run over the top of them. Goes very well at the track.

THE CLEANER: Winner of this race for the past two years and undefeated over this track and distance from four attempts. Unfortunately he doesn't look to be going anywhere near as well these days. Will lead but I can't see him hanging on the way he's going.

JACQUINOT BAY: Huge run in the PB Lawrence Stakes behind Miss Rose De Lago. Draws to get a great run here from barrier 3 but he's at his limit against most of these.

SIGNOFF: Hard to know what to make of his first up run because he lost sight of the leader due to the tempo and never stood a chance. His grand final is a long way away yet so expect him to run well without threatening.

EXCESS KNOWLEDGE: Talented on his day and capable of pulling out a big run fresh, as we saw in the Ajax Stakes last prep. Hard to know if he's going that well, however, and Gai is on an absolutely torrid run at present so happy to look elsewhere.

AWESOME ROCK: Just peaked on his run first up in the PB Lawrence. Probably still needs this run before he's ready to peak over 2000m.

MAHUTA: Very brave effort behind Black Heart Bart in the Memsie last week. On the quick back up here and will need plenty of luck going forward from barrier 14. Might be able to just sit off The Cleaner but the tempo will be brutal which won't suit front runners.

TAVAGO: Australian Derby winner who is first up here. Looking for the longer trips and may be better suited on the wet tracks. Was meant to run last week but had a minor setback. Expect him to go well without threatening.

SUAVITO: Slightly disappointing first up for mine but the blinkers go back on here and she's never missed a place 2nd up from a spell. Awkward draw in barrier 10 and 1600m may test her a touch. Needs luck but can go well.

REAL LOVE: Interesting runner and over the odds at 50/1 in my eyes. Very talented mare and despite 1600m being short of her best, she has performed well at the distance before. Goes well first up and will get a great run from barrier 7.

MISS ROSE DE LAGO: Looks to have taken another step up judging by her first up win in the PB Lawrence. Got all the favours from barrier 1 on that occasion and certainly won't get that here from barrier 15 but if she has any luck going forward she can feature in the finish.

SET SQUARE: Good run first up where she produced the fastest final 200m of the race. Step up in distance helps and should enjoy the tempo. Probably still looking for further but she looks to be going well.

JAMEKA: Hugely impressive first up run in the PB Lawrence over a distance well short of her best. Should continue to improve as she steps up in distance and I expect to see her ridden quiet again today from barrier 13. Don't think she will win, though.

Summary

Settled on THE UNITED STATES by default here. There really is about 6-8 horses that could win this without surprising me. While 1600m is probably a touch short of his best distance, this horse should be suited by the tempo and it may take a 2000m specialist to get over the top of them late. Goes well fresh, goes well at the track and should get a good run.

Big watch on TOSEN STARDOM at his first start for Weir. If he brings his form from last year's Championships or some of his Japanese form then he will be right in contention. SUAVITO gets the blinkers on once again so expect improvement from her, while MISS ROSE DE LAGO will run well again provided she gets luck slotting in from out wide.

TAVAGO one to watch, while REAL LOVE looks over the odds at 50/1.

1st THE UNITED STATES
2nd TOSEN STARDOM
3rd REAL LOVE
4th MISS ROSE DE LAGO
