On a cold day at Melbourne, Sandown Hillside will host an eight-race program on Wednesday but despite the cool conditions of 13 degrees, the track is expected to remain Good throughout the day. It's a tricky affair for punters but there are some horses here that might be up to Spring class so it will be a program worth following. Race one starts at 12:25pm (AEST) and the popular quaddie legs start at 2:45pm (AEST).
Brendan Bunworth brings you his three Sandown best bets for the day as well as his Quaddie selections, with odds thanks to Ladbrokes. And if you’re after more free tips for this week's key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 23rd 2025
Race 2: MRC Membership Feel The Thrill Handicap - 1pm (AEST)
(1) Saluted has drawn wide in barrier 10 but she is 1 from 1 on Good tracks so she is proven. She led all of the way at Pakenham on that day and then she won again at The Valley on a Soft 7 the start after. On May 24 she settled handy and was 2nd at this track and after seeing the place I think she can go one better here. Logan Bates gets a 3kg claim and he will be keen to get another midweek win.
(3) Tiz Worthy goes well fresh and she has trialled up nicely for this. Will be double figure odds and the tongue tie goes on. Could be a key gear change.
(10) Shahar will find this race easier than last time and barrier 2 is a good get for this. Ran 6th on debut and got back on that occasion. After having a great day of riding on Saturday at Flemington, Willow goes on.
(1) Saluted WIN
$2.25 (3 Units)
Race 3: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)
(2) Takeko goes well on Dry tracks and she resumes after a good looking jumpout at Pakenham in which she won. She is having her second try over the distance and this is one of the horses I think might progress to Spring Racing. Tom Prebble is on and he is riding in great fashion. Gets a 2kg claim and goes on one that is resuming and is 2 from 2 first up.
(3) Sioux Spirit won well at Bendigo last start but that was on the Heavy. Hasn’t won over this distance after 5 attempts but still should Place.
(6) Bonnie Amore got up by a nose at Pakenham last start and will need to improve another 2L again. Is up to it and she does like this distance.
(2) Takeko WIN
$3.00 (2 Units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Get On Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)
(15) Sir Atlas went back and ran 6th last start after not having much luck. Gets another chance here and he does drop back to the mile which he likes. Likes Dry ground and Jamie Mott takes the ride for the first time. Will want the pace on and the long Hillside straight should suit. Has won 4 from 14 starts but none in this last 4. Ready to go.
(4) Black Storm has been in the top 3 on 10 occasions from 13 starts. Has to go in to run a drum again and he races over his favourite distance again.
(5) Umgawa drops in class but is the topweight. Could run a Place at very big odds if he gets the favours in the run. Has drawn poorly and hasn’t won in 2 and a half years but has won at the track.
(15) Sir Atas Each-Way
$4.00/$1.80 (1 Unit)
