Sandown Racing Tips for Sunday, August 6th

August 6th 2017, 10:41am, By: tim_tips

With the running of the rescheduled Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes today at Sandown, we've decided to treat you all with an extra slate of betting tips for all nine races this Sunday, the 6th of August including an extended preview of the Bletchingly Stakes.

SANDOWN RACING TIPS

R1 - Sanadaat
R2 - Galileo's Pearl / My Gypsy Jane EW
R3 - Special Diva / Haukland Beach EW
R4 - Wells
R5 - Ancient King
R6 - Swiss Moments / Sports Writer EW
R7 - Ability EW
R8 - Written Era / Heza Ripper EW
R9 - Tres / All Day Every Day EW

Best Bet: Race 5 Ancient King

This horse has had four starts over hurdles for four wins. Returned from a very short let-up last start over 2500m on the flat at Morhpettville. That was just to keep him fit so ignore his finishing position. Drops 4kg from his last hurdle win and the ground won't worry him. $3.30 looks a reasonable price.

Best Value: Race 8 Heza Ripper

Huge odds about this horse and it's a tough race. But he gets a huge drop in grade here and most importantly a Soft track. He is undefeated from five starts on Soft ground. Finished 2nd at his only start over track and distance, gets in ok with the claim, just needs a good ride and he may run a blinder at $21.

Bletchingly Stakes - Race 7

Great race but I just keep coming back to one horse and that is ABILITY. I was keen on him at the price last week and although we aren't getting $10 here, I think $6 is a pretty good each way bet. He's three from three since resuming as a gelding and admittedly they've been in significantly easier races than this but he's been absolutely dominant in all of them. Draws to get a lovely run from barrier 4, has good form on Soft ground, and I think he can measure up. I expect LANKAN RUPEE will need the run first up for 266 days from an injury and with Mick Price essentially saying as much in recent weeks, I'll be taking him on given he's favourite for the race. The biggest danger could be SAVANNAH AMOUR. She was well backed last week before the race was postponed, and she's already been well backed again here. She's a Group 2 winner already so I won't be underestimating her. The concern will be the Soft track for her, but she's got a great first up record. I think KEEN ARRAY will need the run, while DUKE OF BRUNSWICK's record suggests he will be thereabouts in the finish. The horse I'm really keen to see is CHOCOLATE HOLIC. He was meant to run against Supido first up but was scratched from the race. He makes his Melbourne debut for Weir here after winning 7 of his 11 races in WA. His best will be over 1400m but I do think he comes into this a bit under the radar. I was keen on him at $13 last week but he's a bit shorter here and I will just be happy to watch him. LORD OF THE SKY is the smokey. He always tends to need his first up run and he was awfully fresh first up, but he's won four of his six races when second up so we may see him improve out of sight today. TASHBEEH the blowout. Ability each way for me.
