Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday June 14th 2025

June 13th 2025, 9:13pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Sandown Hillside will host nine races in the Saturday timeslot this weekend and despite cool conditions the weather is expected to be lovely for connections and racegoers.

The first race starts at 11:55am (AEST) and the quaddie legs start at 2:45pm. (AEST) so we will have a crack at that too with the Peter Moody and Karthryn Coleman trained Roadcone a popular pick in the first leg.

Galloppers will be running on a Soft track and a downgrade in conditions is not expected during the afternoon so the true winter specialist who love racing on the Heavy will have to wait a few more weeks yet.

Brendan Bunworth has done the form to bring you his three Sandown best bets for day as well as his Quaddie selections. If you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

If you're looking for somewhere new to bet this weekend, then we are pleased to announce the launch of BetReal, a brand new Australian-owned sports betting site. Time to get real with BetReal!

Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday, June 14th 2025

Race 6: Ray Porters 90th Celebration Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)

(5) Roadcone is a last start winner at this track and the gelding gets a 3kg claim here with Cartwright on top. All of his wins have come on Dry ground but track conditions should be good with no rain around the last 5 days. The on pace runner will go forward for the jockey he does go well for and if she can put the breaks on he should have something left in the motor up the home straight considering the lighter weight he has to carry.

(10) Russian Meteor gets less weight here too and has drawn inside for Nugent. He ran on well for 3rd at this track last start and if he can save ground again he can place at good odds.

(3) Aztec State has drawn wide in 14 but did trial up well leading into this. Has placed over this distance and is another who likes Drying tracks.

(5) Roadcone

$2.20 (3 units)

Race 8: Thoroughbred of Australia Handicap - 4:05pm (AEST)

(13) Manolo Bling is slightly down in class here and he has a win and a 2nd to his name over this suitable distance. Prebble hops on top for the first time and despite drawing wide in 10 is likely to take him forward and settle in the first few. He was backed to win at Morphettville last start when 4th after leading and he has had a jumpout since then.

(6) Harry Got Styles got the money here last start on the Soft and he gets the same conditions again. He will get back in the run for Ben Allen and will need speed on.

(10) Codigo drops back 200m here after a poor showing at Flemington last time. He is 2 from 2 over this distance and this seems a suitable race. Good odds too!

(13) Manolo Bling E/W

$4.00/$1.75 (1u e/w)

Race 9: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 4:35pm (AEST)

(15) The Open has been hitting the line well on Dry tracks but he has won on the Soft too in only 2 runs so far. His Caulfield run on May 4 when 4th was very good and he was unlucky at this track 20 days later after being held up when around 6th position. Yendal goes on and will likely take him back and will hope for a big finish down the outside which may be favourbale late in the day.

(2) Detonator Jack resumes and he usually does run well first up. Likes Soft tracks and his trials into this have been good enough to suggest he has enough fitness on his side.

(12) Hughes won at this track on May 24 on a Good track and that is a slight concern because he has only two 2nds to his name on Soft tracks. He will be favourite for Bates who has won on him three times now.

(15) The Open E/W

$6.50/$2.30 (1u e/w)
