Welcome to our preview and horse racing betting tips for racing at Sandown Hillside on Wednesday, January 2nd.
We’ve picked out two races on the card to bet into below. The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail in the 12m position.
Check out our betting tips below!
Shaq looks the obvious horse to beat here coming off a good run at Caulfield when 2nd behind the promising Tavistock Dancer. I think that’ll prove a good form line to follow. He’s got a good record at this distance with a win and four placings from five starts and his only start at this track was a win. Williams stays on board and so do the blinkers after they went on last start. If he produces a similar performance he should be winning this. Sickening also looks a solid chance in this at around $7.00. He won over 2000m six weeks ago and drops back to the 1800m having been freshened up. Weir often brings them to town on the back of a country win and they generally measure up.
Value: SIckening $7.00
Godolphin’s Tin Hat returns to the races as a gelding for the first time and although this is a pretty deep BM64, he should progress onto better races than this in the future. He jumped out pretty sharply at Flemington recently and went to the line in front under a hold. Williams takes the ride after riding him in that jumpout and the Godolphin team are flying at the moment. Barrier 3 should see him get a good run in midfield and with even luck he looks the one to beat first up here. Amschel and Abyssinian come out of a race at Cranbourne which should see both be competitive here, while the Weir horse Six Stigma won at Seymour first up from a 23-week spell and has plenty of scope for improvement at just his sixth start. I'd eb surprised if he wasn't somewhere in the finish at double figure odds.
Value: Six Stigma $14
A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne, and his home town of Perth. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of racing form analyst for Before You Bet, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
