Rosehill Racing Tips: Wednesday September 28th

September 27th 2022, 6:02pm, By: Billy Bestford

Wednesday racing heads to Rosehill for a rare midweek meeting.  We will see a strong seven race card with some of these races not looking out of place on a Saturday. The track is rated a good 3 on Tuesday however there is plenty of rain forecast for race day so keep an eye on track conditions throughout the afternoon.

As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look at the meeting and has found his best bets for the day.

Rosehill Racing Tips: Wednesday September 28th

Race 2

There was a bit of market support for (2) Tribeca Star on debut and he flashed hard to just miss an impressive winner. He crossed the line with the favourite in this race so the $9.50 on offer looks more than fair. Up to 1200m looks ideal from a good draw he can trail something into the straight and will be finishing over the top of them once again. Doubt he remains a maiden for long.

(5) Pereille comes out of the same race on debut and crossed the line with Tribeca Star. He came from last in the field and just had too much to do when they turned for home. Similar to our selection I think he ticks the right boxes but from a price point of a view I will side with TS.

(6) Golden Age has looked the part at two recent trials and draws nicely in gate 3. He looks a horse with a bit of ability and will run well.

(11) Pungo unbeaten at the trials and gets the inside draw. Should land in the gun spot throughout and if the gaps come I think he can play a part in the finish.

(4) Bundeena was solid enough on debut and looks the blowout chance.

(2) Tribeca Star

$9.50/$3.20  (0.5/1.5 units)

Race 4

Keen on (1) Willinga Rufio here who was dominant first up over 1600m when leading throughout and never giving anything else a chance. Up t0 1800m now looks even more suitable and he looks to get an uncontested lead yet again. He’s only been beaten once in four career runs and while he gets up in the weights now I think he can tick off another midweek win before heading to Saturday grade later this prep.

(14) Coppelson could be worth having something small on. He comes into this with an undefeated record through two runs and looked good winning of a short break over 1600m. With that run under the belt he looks a horse who will enjoy getting over more ground and has plenty of upside.

(5) Jupitus brings Melbourne formlines and will have fans with McDonald taking the ride. Has been in great form this prep and this looks another winnable race for him.

(9) Lukey Luke will be suited if the rain comes and was a second up winner last prep. He was solid enough on resumption and should improve with that run under the belt.

Value: (14) Coppelson - $12  (0.25 units)

(1) Willinga Rufio

$2.35  (1.5 units)

Race 6

Think (15) Alberich could be the one here having his first run in his second prep. Looked very good at the two runs we saw of him last time in work when winning on debut and then finished a close second at this track/trip to the smart Flag Of Honour. That horse ran 4th in a Ming Dynasty a few weeks ago. Draws for a nice run and really liked his late work in a recent trial trucking through the line under hands and heels. Handles wet ground.

(11) Narito was all the rage at first two career runs before bumping into a few handy ones when rising in grade last start. He didn’t have everything his own way there and have to respect the SP profile. Can bounce back.

(14) Stray looks a touch under the odds as current favourite with just one win from 13 starts. His return run was very good however, finishing 4th to Ita in Saturday grade. Sure to improve off that and could be ready.

(9) Overlord is a big price especially if the rain hits hard. The wetter the better for him and he should be hard fit now having 4th run this prep. On best form he can win this but just struggles to put it all together sometimes.

(15) Alberich

$4.50  (1 unit)

Race 7

Will only be betting in this race if we are on a soft 6 or better so keep an eye on the weather on track rating by this stage of the day.

If the track is dry enough and the stable are happy to run him then I think (6) Mars Mission could be the best bet on the card here. Been gelded and has been trialling the house down with Berry in the saddle. He sticks for race day and this is easier than what he has contested in his career. Wait and see what the weather does before pulling the trigger.

Same goes for (10) Shadow Devil who was as big of a run as you will see first up, especially around Canterbury. He came from near last at the turn to just miss Democracy Manifest who is pretty handy. Fitter for that but needs it bone dry.

If the rain comes then (5) Omni Man will prove tough to run down. He was a nice winner first up and draws low here where he will see every chance in the run.

(1) Zarastro probably the class horse of the field and drops in grade for this. He would need a lot to go right to win from the wide gate on a wet track.

Saver: (10) Shadow Devil - $6.00  (0.5 unit)

(6) Mars Mission

$2.70  (2.5 units)
