Rosehill Racing Tips for Saturday, 29th of July

Race 1

Only two I really want to be on here. D'ARGENTO will prove extremely hard to beat here after an impressive debut win at Newcastle where he had to overcome a few obstacles throughout the run. We saw Waller do something similar during the week with another horse, bringing him to town on the back of a Newcastle win and he won in good style. Bowman rides from barrier 5 and he's been backed very heavily since markets opened. Currently $2, could start shorter and looks very hard to beat in this. The value could be the Snowden runner ALMIGHTY who was an even money favourite at Newcastle last start but was caught three wide the trip before finishing 2nd. With a better run from barrier 3 here he could measure up at $11.

TIP: D'argento (Best Bet) / Almighty EW

Race 2

Tough race to start, and an ordinary one at that. I've landed with CLEAR THE BEACH on top but not very keen. He's got a good record at the track, has won his only start at the track and distance, and they key today will be the drop back from 1200m to 1100m. His record at this distance is great and his only two wins have come over 1100m. From barrier 1 he should just bounce straight to the front and be tough to run down. He finished 3rd behind Pick Me Up and Mana last time out, and Mana came out and won on Wednesday so the form is ok. Value could be DIFFICULT TO GET who didn't have much luck at her latest start. Spending To Win went very close last week and came out of that same race so the form there is alright too. 1100m is a slight query but she's down in the weights. Terrified of PARKER'S PIECE who is first up in Australia for the Lees stable. Bowman to ride which looks a strong lead. Will cover my bets with him. Keep ROCKAFELLA safe.

TIP: Clear The Beach / Difficult To Get EW

Race 3

Another tricky race. ABEITSAM nearly defied the 60kg weight and the step up to 1800m last start and probably should have won if not for the pest that bugged him in the lead all race. He drops back to 1400m here and is a definite winning chance, but that hard run and the drop back so quickly after a step up is enough for me to avoid him. Add to that the expected company of THE PHARAOH in front and that could set it up for those behind them. One of those will be INSENSATA who really impressed me with her win last start. The 1400m is her ideal distance and if she gets the pace on up front she could put these away. Her record at the track and distance is good and she should once again get a nice run. Hyeronimus chooses to ride her over Arbeitsam so I'm happy to stick with her. REACH FOR HEAVEN is an interesting runner who will appreciate the step up in distance. Bowman chooses to ride him over the likes of Cosmic Engine, and McEvoy was booked to ride Awoke before she was scratched, despite Bowman riding her to her first up win. So it seems like he's chosen this ride and there must be a good reason for that. At $6 he is definitely worth having something on. THE PHARAOH was only run down on the line by Awoke last start. I think that's a pretty good formline and I'd be pretty keen on him if there wasn't already decent pace in the race. But with Arbeitsam in the race they could end up carving each other up. Insensata on top with a small bet on Reach For Heaven.

TIP: Insensata

Race 4

Interestingly NIC'S VENDETTA has been $7.50 into $4 here and easily the best backed in early markets. He knocked up after leading last start in the race that Suncraze won, and steps up to 1500m here which I'm not convinced is his best distance. The jockey change is a huge positive with Rachel King taking over, and he gets in with just 57.5kg which is a very good weight for him. He'll lead and be very hard to run down but I just struggle to see why he's been so heavily backed when there is a genuine query about him at the distance. I've had some great results thanks to Nic but I'm pretty keen to look elsewhere here, starting with the second favourite for Bowman. PRADA MISS copped a decent check at the start last time out when finishing 2nd at Grafton. He finished 2nd at Doomben last prep behind Candika over 1600m in Stakes grade, so you'd think if she brought that form here she'd be very hard to beat. The wide barrier hurts, but Bowman is obviously a big plus. The other one I'm keen on at each way odds is FORCE OF MAGIC around the $11 mark. Has had two runs back from a spell now and comes into this ready to peak third up at 1500m. His first and second up record isn't great but he has run 2nd on both occasions when third up so expect him to improve here. Has won his only start over track and distance and with the claim he gets in well for Adkins. Draws well and can run a big race I think. BUNNY BAD GIRL the knockout.

TIP: Prada Miss / Force Of Magic EW

Race 5

This is the absolute last chance I'll be giving FAITH'S ENCORE. She resumed with a decent run first up after missing the start and settling last. Had to come through the field and did a decent job to finish 4th in what seems to be a decent form race. If she starts well today she can settle much closer and she is undefeated second up from a spell so with McEvoy on, she goes on top. But if she loses today, that's it. $3.90 available and we may even get better. One at odds I want to have something on is VIENNA ROMANCE around $9. She's only won the one race but her recent form doesn't read that poorly if you forget the Heavy track failure two starts back. Three starts back she ran 2nd to New Universe and back in 3rd was Memes who has won at least once since. That's a good form race for this. Then last start she ran 2nd to Cudabeen who then ran 2nd last weekend. So the form stacks up, she just needs a good ride from the wide gate. SUSPENDERS, FIERIN and even MISS PARKIN can be included.

TIP: Faith's Encore / Vienna Romance EW

Race 6

Pretty keen on one here and another at each way odds, and taking on VAUCLUSE BAY at those odds. He had absolutely everything go his way last start after landing midfield on a hot rail with the leaders going very hard in front. He is a definite winning chance here with 53kg and the gun draw once again, but at the price I can't back him. I'll be with the stablemate ZOURKHAN with Bowman on board. He was a Flemington winner two starts back before running 2nd by a nose last start. Up to 2000m here which is no issue. He will settle worse than midfield and hopefully get a good suck into the race. At $4.80 I'd prefer to back him over Vaucluse Bay. The other is LIFE O'BRIEN who put two wins on the trot before running 3rd last start. McEvoy jumps back on and he's another that will get a great run from barrier 3. At $8 I think he's a decent price in this. ENCOSTA LINE can win.

TIP: Zourkhan / Life O'Brien EW

Race 7

I was against him last start but I'm back on him this start and that's GOLD SYMPHONY. He was absolutely luckless in the Winter Stakes when I thought he couldn't win, but if he saw any daylight at all in the straight he would have gone very close. Draws better here and the extra trip shouldn't really matter too much. CENTRE PIVOT is one at big odds that could be ready to do something. His run in the Winter Stakes was reasonable, but his record third up from a spell suggests he's ready to peak, and his record at the track and distance is quite outstanding. Should enjoy a good run from barrier 7. The only worry is that the stable is really struggling. SNIPPETS LAND was another that had absolutely no luck in the Winter Stakes and can go close here; the concern is he's not placed in either run at the distance and has only placed once from 10 starts at the track. LIAPARI at the bottom of the weights can win, but he'll have to come from last and with the step up in grade it will be interesting to see if he's capable.

TIP: Gold Symphony / Centre Pivot EW

Race 8

Really don't like this race. Very competitive, wide open and nothing stands out. It's also a bunch of horses that either don't win, or aren't suited to the trip so it makes it very hard to find one to be confident on. I've landed on EMBLEY here at $9 which I think is an alright price because he has proved he's capable over a range of distances. Even though he won over 2000m last prep, he's also won over 1200m, 1300m, 1400m and 1800m. First up he settled at the back and never got clear in the straight, eventually finishing 6th beaten 1.6L. Has got a reasonable second up record, has two wins at the track and two wins at the distance. McEvoy goes on today which is a big plus, and he might just have the most progression in him at this stage. ROCK MYLADY comes up $13 which is also worth something small eachway. First up and second up last prep he had absolutely no luck and really should have gone close in both of those. They were both at this track and over 1200m and 1350m, so I think he may be able to show up here. The claim brings him down to 51.5kg, and although his record on Good ground and at this track are both extremely poor, the runs at the start of last prep suggest to me he may be able to defy them.

TIP: Embley EW (Best Value) / Rock Mylady EW

Race 9

Two horse race for mine between AWOKE and PHILOSOPHY and at the odds we can definitely back both. Awoke comes up $4.50 and Philosophy is at $5. Happy to have a big crack at those two. AWOKE returned with a win over The Pharaoh at Canterbury. She was matching it with Foxplay earlier in her career and simply didn't turn up last prep. She looks to have come back in good form and she can definitely go on with it here. Barrier 5 should see her get a great run. The only query I have is the firm track. She's never placed on Good ground and is undefeated on Soft ground so I just wonder if her first up win was a touch misleading due to the Soft track. I don't think it was because she was beaten 1.6L by Foxplay in a Group 2 on Good ground when she was held up the entire straight so that's good enough for me. PHILOSOPHY won first up at Canterbury and then never got clear last start when 4th at Warwick Farm. It was a butcher job by Brown but he keeps the ride (which I'm happy with) and from barrier 2 he will once again get a good run in transit, just needs some luck at the right stage. Back on to Good ground is a tick and is hard to beat here. Tipping Awoke but backing both here.

TIP: Awoke
