Welcome to our harness racing preview and betting tips for Gloucester Park on Tuesday, August 13th.
Trent Orwin is back from a freshen up and has cast his eye over tonight's meeting! Check out his best bets of the night below.
A very competitive Level 8 race over 2536m. There could be some early speed with (2) Kohli, (5) Baptism Of Fire and (6) Bitcoin capable of showing gate speed. I’m not 100 per cent certain on the speed map but it shouldn’t matter for my selection (10) Pierre Whitby who is trained by WA’s best trainer at the moment Debra Lewis. Almost every horse that transfers to Lewis’ care improves significantly and Pierre Whitby showed that immediately. The 3YO gelding won two starts ago over 2692m at Pinjarra so the longer distance at Gloucester Park will suit his chances. He should have plenty to offer late and could prove hard to hold out.
A nice class drop for (9) Kennys Revenge who represents trainer-driver Kyle Harper. It wouldn’t shock if he flew out and crossed them all at the start. Four starts ago he led all-the-way over 1730m. A pair of fifths followed against Burning Rubber and Gee Jay Kay. Happy to forgive last start over 2536m when beaten 30.3m. Expect Kennys Revenge to prove hard to beat. (3) Kid Colossus looks one of the main dangers from barrier three and he was runner up last start at Bunbury. Prior to that he was fifth behind Black Jack Zac which is good form. (1) Blissntheblack looks a place chance from the good draw. Not too keen on remaining runners who appear to be place hopes at best.
There is an element of guesswork when it comes to first starters and I am doing that with Kyle Harper’s (3) Love My Life. She won a Byford trial with the last quarter clocked in 28 seconds. It isn’t the strongest field which could give Love My Life a chance. The horse to beat appears to be (5) Remit Me Whitby ahead of (6) Star In Art but I found it hard to split the pair. (4) Soho Major Player has had 11 starts without a win so it is hard to be confident about her chances. (2) Tiger Toast has been consistent recently and shouldn’t be too far away. It should be a competitive race and I am hoping that Love My Life measures up at her first race start.
