JackJumpers vs Kings Prediction & Tips: NBL27 Round 7

October 29th 2026, 4:23pm, By: Heath Chick

NBL JackJumpers vs Kings Tips

The Tasmania JackJumpers and Sydney Kings meet in a blockbuster NBL27 Round 7 clash on Friday night, with two of the competition's leading teams battling for an important early-season victory at the Silverdome in Launceston.

Sydney arrive in Tasmania fresh from an impressive 99-91 victory over the Perth Wildcats on Wednesday night, while the ladder-leading JackJumpers have enjoyed more than a week to prepare following their comfortable win over Brisbane.

It's an intriguing contest between two genuine championship contenders, but the Kings face a particularly demanding assignment after travelling from Sydney to Perth and then Tasmania in the space of a few days. The JackJumpers, meanwhile, will be hoping to improve their less convincing record at the Silverdome, a venue where they haven't always enjoyed the same success as at their regular Hobart home.

JackJumpers Bringing the Depth

The JackJumpers have been one of the standout teams through the opening six rounds of NBL27, sitting on top of the ladder with a 6-2 record and displaying a much more versatile offensive game than in previous seasons.

Scott Roth's side haven't played since their 106-85 victory over Brisbane on October 21, when all five starters scored in double figures and the JackJumpers controlled the contest against an injury-depleted Bullets lineup.

Josh Bannan led the way with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Taran Armstrong contributed 19 points and six assists. David Johnson added 17 points, Dakota Mathias scored 16 and Will Magnay produced an excellent all-round performance with 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

The depth of contributors has been a major strength for Tasmania. Armstrong has added another dimension to their backcourt, while Bannan and Magnay provide an imposing frontcourt combination capable of controlling the rebounding battle and creating opportunities for their teammates.

Perhaps most importantly for this particular matchup, Tasmania have had nine days between games. That should leave the JackJumpers fresh and well prepared for a Sydney side playing its second game in three days.

However, there is one important consideration when assessing Tasmania's home-court advantage. Friday's game will be played at the Silverdome in Launceston rather than MyState Bank Arena in Hobart, and the JackJumpers haven't enjoyed the same level of success at their northern Tasmanian venue.

While the Silverdome should still provide a passionate home crowd, Tasmania's less convincing record in Launceston makes it difficult to place too much emphasis on the home-court factor alone. The JackJumpers will need to produce the same defensive intensity and offensive balance that have made them so effective throughout the opening rounds.

The Kings Always Dangerous

Sydney couldn't have asked for a much better start against Perth on Wednesday night, producing an extraordinary opening quarter on their way to a 99-91 victory at RAC Arena.

The Kings made their first 10 field-goal attempts, including five three-pointers, to race to a 25-7 advantage. Kendric Davis was virtually unstoppable early, scoring 16 first-quarter points without missing a shot.

Sydney eventually led by as many as 25 points, although Perth fought back strongly after halftime and reduced the deficit to just four points late in the final quarter. The Kings steadied when it mattered, with Torrey Craig making some important baskets to secure the victory.

Craig finished with a team-high 26 points, while Davis contributed 24 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Andrew Carr added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Makuach Maluach was particularly effective from long range, making four of his five three-point attempts on his way to 14 points.

The result improved Sydney's record to 6-3 and demonstrated just how dangerous Brian Goorjian's side can be when its offence is firing.

However, the quick turnaround presents a genuine challenge. The Kings have travelled across the country for Wednesday's game in Perth and must now back up against the ladder leaders in Tasmania on Friday.

Matthew Dellavedova will also miss the contest as he continues recovering from a calf injury, leaving Sydney without one of its most experienced guards.

JackJumpers vs Kings Betting Tips

Sydney's victory over Perth was impressive, particularly the explosive opening quarter, but there are several reasons to favour Tasmania in this matchup.

The JackJumpers are enjoying an excellent season and possess the size and defensive discipline to challenge Sydney's talented lineup. Armstrong's battle with Davis should be particularly entertaining, while the contest between Tasmania's frontcourt and Sydney's experienced forwards could have a major influence on the result.

The Kings are deservedly respected by the bookmakers, but their demanding travel schedule is difficult to overlook. Wednesday's game was physically demanding, particularly after Perth's second-half comeback, and Sydney now face another high-quality opponent with considerably more preparation time.

One factor working against Tasmania is the venue. The JackJumpers have traditionally been more reliable at MyState Bank Arena than at the Silverdome, and their record in Launceston suggests this isn't quite the same home-court advantage they enjoy in Hobart.

Nevertheless, the difference in preparation time remains significant. Tasmania have had nine days to recover and prepare, while Sydney have been travelling extensively and must back up just 48 hours after a demanding contest in Perth.

The head-to-head market has Sydney favourites at $1.75, with Tasmania available at $2.08. The handicap is relatively small at 2.5 points, offering $1.86 for Tasmania with the start.

Given how closely matched these teams appear, the extra value on Tasmania to win outright is more appealing than taking the small handicap.

BEST BET

Sydney were outstanding against Perth, but backing up just two days later following extensive interstate travel is a difficult assignment. Tasmania have enjoyed a lengthy break and are playing excellent basketball, although their less convincing record in Launceston is worth considering. With the JackJumpers available at better than even money, we're happy to back them to claim an important victory.
