Mornington Racing Tips: Wednesday January 21st 2026

January 20th 2026, 3:12pm, By: Trent Orwin

Mornington Racing Tips

Mornington is the track for Wednesday’s midweek meeting in Victoria and there will be eight races on the program. The first jumps at 3:40pm (AEDT) and the rail will be out eight metres for the entire circuit as they race on a Good track. Race 6 looks a great betting and form race, as all nine runners have had a victory within their last four starts. We bring you our best bets for the card below!

Mornington Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 21st 2026

Race 3: Big Event Picnic Tables Plate 1500m – 4:50pm (AEDT)

(9) Mystery ‘N’ Drama is still seeking a maiden win with three-straight minor placings beside her name for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman. At her last start, she finished third, and the second placegetter Miss Maranda, a stablemate, immediately went on to win a Pakenham maiden. Luke Nolen picks up the ride this time and from gate one, she could get the perfect trip. Looks hard to beat.

(3) Jimmy Beans is a NZ-bred debutant for trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman. He has been given plenty of time to get to the races, with five jump outs prior to his first race. Won’t be surprised to see him run a big race first up.

(4) Pierrobid was last seen running fifth at the Pakenham synthetic circuit in August 2025. He has had a pair of trials in preparation for his resumption. Hopefully he can get through the run in good health because he hasn’t been able to have a second run in a campaign yet.

(9) Mystery ‘N’ Drama WIN

$2.15 (3 Units)

Race 5: The Devilbend Golf Course Handicap 1200m – 6:00pm (AEDT)

(4) Alero resumed at Flemington on New Year’s Eve with a sixth placing when beaten 4.05 lengths in a Benchmark 66 Handicap over 1100m. The slight step up to 1200m is more beneficial and the Ciaron Maher-trained four-year-old gelding is placed in two attempts when racing second-up from a spell. Looks a nice price at $6.

(3) Viasain has had two runs this prep for a win at Kyneton before heading to Sandown Lakeside where he ran fifth, beaten 2.25 lengths. Jamie Mott is back aboard and that’s been a positive, as Mott rode the gelding in the Kyneton victory.

(6) Double Pi returns to the races after a pair of jump outs following a spell for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman. The four-year-old mare has won first up before and should run a bold race here.

(4) Alero WIN

$6.00 (1 Unit)

Race 6: Sportsbet Fixed Odds Exotics Handicap 1200m – 6:30pm (AEDT)

(7) Torsheen is a local three-year-old filly prepared by Shane Nichols and Hayden Black. She has won two of seven in her career to date. At her first run this prep, she finished third, beaten 2 lengths by Esmahli who has since travelled to Rosehill to win a stronger race. Torsheen then won well at Sale. Gate four looks good for the filly here and hopefully she can land near the speed. Looks a great each-way price.

(2) Royal Rendezvous has had just the two career runs for a win on debut at Werribee before a fourth-placed effort at Geelong. The three-year-old gelding didn’t have much clear galloping room until it was too late but rocketed through the line. Can see why all the early money is for this horse and looks hardest to beat.

(6) Nordic Strike obliterated rivals to capture his maiden for trainer Ciaron Maher last start at Stony Creek. Jockey Teo Nugent is sticking with Torsheen despite partnering with Nordic Strike in that maiden victory. Ethan Brown picks up the ride and should be positive early from barrier two.

(7) Torsheen E/W

$7.50/$2.20 (1 Unit)
