Randwick-Kensington hosts a seven-race program on Wednesday as the first race, a maiden kicks off at 2:20pm (AEDT). In total, there are two maidens, a super maiden, two Benchmark 64, and two Benchmark 72 Handicaps on the card. The rail is out three metres from the 1600m to the winning post and one metre for the remainder.

Randwick-Kensington Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 14th 2026

Race 2: Spelling at Coolmore Mt White Plate 1400m – 2:55pm (AEDT)

(6) Viva Mauricio looks to be building towards a win for trainer Chris Waller who saddles up two of the eight runners, Portofino is the other Waller runner here and both have claims. Viva Mauricio finished second last time at Canterbury over 1550m. Jockey Tommy Berry is likely to have him sitting out near last in the run and work through the gears later in the race, in a bid to run them down. Should be rock-hard fit for this maiden.

(7) Movie Night is a three-year-old filly for John O’Shea and Tom Charlton who has had two career starts for a fourth and eighth. Blinkers go on and the smaller field compared to last start should both be in her favour. Her recent sectionals read well and she can go very close.

(4) Portofino notched his first career placing last start at Canterbury over 1200m and now gets James McDonald from gate one. That third-placed finish was easily the best of his career, finishing 1.58 lengths from the winner. Should improve again second up from a spell.

(6) Viva Mauricio WIN

$3.90 (2 Units)

Race 4: Myplates Handicap 1550m – 4:05pm (AEDT)

(2) Unleeshing was a bit of a horror watch last start, held up at crucial stages of the race, and unable to unleash a devastating sprint. She drops back from a Benchmark 78 Handicap to a Benchmark 64, which is why she carries 60.5kg – she gets James McDonald and gate two. Prior to that run, the daughter of Dundeel was third in a Benchmark 72 Handicap behind Tequila Baby and Kimberley Secrets. The runner up from that race has since run second at Wyong. Looks extremely hard to beat today.

(6) Wooten It Be Nice broke her maiden status at her second career start for Annabel and Rob Archibald. The grey filly let down strongly as she ran over them close to the finish line. She will probably have to give Unleeshing a head start in the run, so I’m not sure if she can reel her in despite the 3kg weight difference.

(4) Shanoni will be looking to boot through from the inside barrier to hold a forward position for trainer Chris Waller and jockey Siena Grima. Gets a 3kg claim to drop to 57kg, will appreciate the extra distance, and with a run under her belt, the four-year-old mare has each-way claims in the race.

(2) Unleeshing WIN

$1.90 (3 Units)

Race 6: Exceedance Yearlings Handicap 1400m – 5:15pm (AEDT)

(5) Calstar has started his career in good fashion, winning three of his first four races, including a dead-heat win alongside Bend The Knee at Beaumont Newcastle. This is the biggest test for the Nathan Doyle-trained gelding. Barrier five will hopefully see Calstar settle midfield which has been the recipe for his success to date. Looks a nice each-way play.

(1) Off The Press has been excellent this prep for Canberra conditioner Todd Smart, winning three from five – he was runner up in the other two attempts. With Braith Nock’s claim, Off The Press carries 58.5kg.

(9) My Phar Lady was a dominant winner at Beaudesert over 1350m at good odds for Richard and Will Freedman. Carries just 55kg here and should be running home strongly in this company.

(5) Calstar E/W

$7.00/$2.40 (1 Unit)
