Geelong Cup Day awaits punters on Wednesday with the running of the Group 3 race which is one of the final lead up races for Melbourne Cup contenders. Run over 2400m there are a few runners that are still in contention to get a start in the Big Dance with favourite Gilded Water already getting backed in for trainer Cairon Maher. The big race starts at 4:10pm (AEDT) and is race seven on the program. There was a bit of rain around on Tuesday but the track should remain Good4 for punters.

Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 22nd 2025
Race 5: Roderick Insurance Brokers 3YO Geelong Classic 2200m - 3pm (AEDT)
(1) Highvol for Nick Ryan and Mark Zahra looks to be a good chance in the Classic on the back of a class drop after running in the Caulfield Guineas (14th) last start. He got well back on that occasion and with them going slow up front he couldn’t get into the race. The two runs prior were solid and a Good track suits.
(8) Crack A Deel is a last start Warrnambool winner and the Dwyer stable is in form after winning the Horsham Cup on Sunday. When fav he box seated and smashed them last start and he has been freshened since.
(2) Acora is fitter after 2 runs this campaign and he has drawn well in barrier 4. He has placed in a harder race than this before and has Shinn on.
(1) Highvol Each-Way
$4.40/$1.80 (1 unit)
Race 7: Ladbrokes Geelong Cup Group 3 2400m - 4:10pm (AEDT)
(2) Berkeley Square had barrier 16 so had to go back to near last at Flemington last start (4th) before running on well. Valiant King won that race and he ran a Placing in the Caulfield Cup at big odds and is in the market for the Melbourne Cup so the form there is quite good. He has had 1 start for a win at Geelong previously and he is very fit now so should be running on again with Nolen on top.
(4) Toranzino was in the same race as Berkeley Square last start and beat him. A Good track suits and he goes well for Gaudray who is the jockey once again.
(7) Gilded Water was 3rd last start against the above and is a short priced fav here ($2.20). He is proven over this distance and will roll forward for Bates who rides.
(2) Berkeley Square Each-Way
$9.50/$2.50 (0.50 units)
Race 9: The Sporting Globe Last Call Handicap (MCC Series Heat) 1500m - 5:20pm (AEDT)
(11) Jenni The Fox will find this race easier than when she ran in the Stock Stakes at The Valley (5th). A Dry track suits and Shinn is on which are two positives and Jenni is 100 percent now after four runs in from a spell. Barrier 16 is the worry so Shinn will have to go back from the draw and take off at the 500m with one long sustained run.
(9) Ashau Valley loves Dry tracks which he gets again and he ran on well last start at Benalla (2nd) to almost get there. He drops 3.5kg from that run and it will be interesting to see what he does from barrier 7 because before his spell he was leading whereas last time he came from well back in the field,
(3) Dragoon has been freshened for this and is pretty big odds. He has always placed over this distance and his win for Damien Lane at Hillside in August was very good.
(11) Jenni The Fox WIN
$3.80 (3 units)
