Sandown Hillside will host eight races on the midweek time slot this week and it looks as though it will be a comfortable program for participants with a clear day and fine conditions expected. The track should remain Soft and the maidens gets us underway in the first which starts at 12:25pm (AEST). There is some value around and my first of three bets is a favourite who is at $6.00 at the time of typing.
Brendan Bunworth bringa you his three Sandown best bets for the day as well as his Quaddie selections, with odds thanks to Ladbrokes. And if you’re after more free tips for this week's key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips!
Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 16th 2025
Race 4: MRC Membership Feel The Frill Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(4) Herbert Park goes well on Soft tracks and with a nice barrier in 2, he gets the nod. Dakota Keane has twice on top from three attempts and this horse likes the 1000m. He usually settles midfield and has a good little run at the end and there should be enough pace in this race to allow that to happen.
(2) Along The River loves this distance but prefers Good tracks. If there is a track upgrade to Good, then the positions are switched with the above. He has won here before and he will settle just behind Herbert Park I reckon.
(5) Rattle And Bang drops in grade here and will want some showers during the afternoon. A track upgrade will be no good for this one. Bad barrier in 10 but Seridan CLarke is on top and knows him well.
(4) Herbert Park Each-Way
$6.00/$2.30 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(8) Ten Deep for Moody & Coleman is the pick here after we tipped her last time and she ran a good 2nd. She goes better second up and her Soft track form is very good. Last start from barrier 1 she settled third and battled on and from barrier 7 here Willow should get her into a nice spot again. The lightly raced mare does have to carry three kilos though which is of slight concern.
(3) Silver Cliff has drawn wide in 14 and will go forward. If she gets over without using too much gas then she will figure in the final 200m. Stays at the class where she has performed well recently.
(10) Maisy is lightly raced and is first up here for the Hawkes Team. Led and scored after going forward at Geelong last start and may roll forward again. Was 2nd in a Flemington jumpout on June 27 and the 1400m looks ideal at this stage of the prep.
(8) Ten Deep WIN
$3.30 (2 Units)
Race 8: Sportsbet More Places Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)
(13) Jua Kibo has been placing well but hasn’t won in more than a year. Was backed into favourite at Cranbourne with Johnny Allen on last start and he finished 3rd. Drops 3kg from that run though and he gets a better barrier this time in 5 compared to 10 at Cranny. Should settle midfield and be right in the finish.
(8) Makdane is the deserved fav and Willow stays on, Has barrier 15 though so is a risky bet I reckon. Is a front runner who has won his last couple so will likely come over again from the wide draw. Likes Soft tracks though and that is key.
(17) Idon’tgettit drops back to 1800m here and he stormed home at Casterton last start to win, Interesting runner who is double figures. The wetter the track the better for him.
(13) Jua Kibo WIN
$5.00 (1 Unit)
