Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians Prediction & Tips: 2025 IPL Eliminator
International duties call
The Titans will be without Jos Butler, Kagiso Rabada and Glenn Philipps for the playoffs, who are away on international duties. Butler’s absence is massive given the Englishmen has had a stellar season scoring 538 runs at an average of 59, with a strike rate of 163.
Mumbai Indians will be missing Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, Corbin Bosch and Vignesh Puthur. Mumbai have depth that should be able to cover the absences, with Jonny Bairstow and Charith Asalanka high quality replacements.
Star power versus depth
This game pits a matchup of star power versus depth. Gujarat have the two leading run scorers of the tournament in Sai Sudharsan (679 runs at 52 with a strike rate of 155) and Shubman Gill (649 runs at 54 with a strike rate of 156). Along with Jos Butler the trio have scored 73% of the Titans runs, it’s an unbelievable run of form, but if Sudharsan and Gill don’t fire, Gujarat will be in trouble.
Mumbai have had a much more even spread of run scorers this season, with Suryakumar Yadav (640 runs), Ryan Rickelton (388), Rohit Sharma (329), Tilak Varma (274), Will Jacks (233), Naman Dhir (206) all scoring above 200 runs this season.
Gujarat have three of the top thirteen wicket takers in the competition with Pradish Krishna (23 wickets, 2nd), Sai Kishore (17 wickets, 6th) and Mohammed Siraj (15 wickets, 13th). Mumbai have two of the top six bowlers in Trent Boult (19 wickets, 3rd) and Jasprit Bumrah (17 wickets, 6th).
Gujarat’s Stronghold of MI
Gujarat Titans won both matches against Mumbai Indians during the regular season, with their star players delivering the goods. The first meeting saw Gujarat come away with a 36 run win with Sudharsan scoring 63 runs, while they won the second game by 3 wickets with Shubamn Gill guiding the team home with 43 in a rain affected match. Gujarat have won four straight games against MI, and have won 5 of the 7 overall meetings between the two franchises.
Titans or Indians? Our IPL Eliminator Tip
For the IPL’s newest franchise, Gujarat have plenty of Playoffs experience to draw on, having made the Final in two of their three seasons in the IPL. Despite being one of the most successful franchises in the history of the IPL, this will be only Mumbai’s second Playoff appearance in the last five seasons. The Star power of Gill, Sudharsan, Siraj and Krishna have shown up time and time again this season, and the Titans will continue their strong record against MI.
