Caulfield Heath circuit hosts midweek racing at Melbourne this week and with a warm early start to the week, the track will be Dry. Race one starts at 12:25pm (AEST) and the first of my best three bets of the afternoon is in Race three!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 7th 2025
Race 3: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)
(7) Catahoula ran 2nd on resumption and the mare usually settles handy so will get here chance in this race from barrier five and experienced Blake Shinn on board. A Dry track suits this mare and her second up form is very good. She sticks with 58.5kg on her back after getting beaten by a head and she has basically had a month off since that run and she would have gained more fitness at home.
(6) Thunder Award will get back in this race and he does have a powerful run at the end of his races so they won’t want to go too hard too early in this because that might set it up for this guy.
(4) Inoreaxable is consistent and likes the Heath. He is first up here and he has run in the top 4 in his last 5 runs. Expect similar here.
(7) Catahoula WIN
$3.60 (2 units)
Race 7: Quayclean Handicap - 3:55pm (AEST)
(10) Shehungthemoon has drawn nicely in barrier 3 and should hunt up behind the leader to sit prominent. A Dry track is key and she has placed in her last three races on a Good track. In her last three races she has only been beaten a total of 2L so she is very consistent and will be there over the concluding stages. Her last win was at Kyneton on February 18 where she led all of the way to score by 6L. Maybe they try and led again?
(4) Close To Midnight was good at this track when leading and winning last start. This race is harder though and there might be more early pace in this.
(5) Box Office may go back from barrier 10 and if they do go hard in front he could hook out late to try and run over the top of them. Has won over the 100m before.
(2) Fitzpatrick is very fit and drops in class. Currently at $2.30 a Place and that looks overs.
(10) Shehungthemoon Each-Way
$5.50/$2.00 (1 unit)
Race 8: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)
(15) Appointed won from the inside at this track last track and despite needing to try again from barrier 13 here, he looks better than these I reckon. His Good track form is very solid and if Mark Zahra can get cover he can start his run at the 400m and finish off. He has never missed a placing over the 1000m and he did win here in February over the 1100m.
(3) Bifrost had no luck at Echuca last start and does usually run well over this distance. Before that he scored at Hillside after sitting handy and I think he is over the odds at 18-1.
(7) Skipjack gets this inside barrier and has won 3 from 5 races on Good tracks. Scored at Cranbourne last start from barrier 3 and he has place when second up previously.
(8) William Thomas gets a mention here. At close to his best he is better than most of these but he hasn’t won in nearly 5 years. First up for new trainer.
(15) Appointed WIN
$4.80 (1 unit)
