2021 AFL Round 20: North Melbourne vs Geelong Preview & Betting Tips

July 29th 2021, 5:05pm, By: PuntingInDanger

AFL Kangaroos vs Cats Betting Tips

The Kangaroos are riding high after a win last weekend and they will look to back it up as they face the Cats from 1.15pm on Saturday afternoon. The clash will be held down at Blundstone Arena in Tasmania and as always, we have you covered with our best bets and same game multi for the clash below.

AFL North Melbourne vs Geelong Betting Tips

Blundstone Arena, Saturday 1.15pm (AEST)

The Roos have won three of their last five and are now in a position to climb off the bottom of the ladder! The only thing standing in their way is arguably the best team in the league at the moment, the Geelong Cats.

Match Prediction

The Cats have won their last four games in a row and after the Demons dropped another game to the Bulldogs on the weekend, Geelong now sit in 2nd place on the ladder, tied with the Dogs on points and trailing them by just 7 percentage points. They have shifted into favouritism for the premiership at $3.75 ahead of the Bulldogs, Demons and Lions.

The Cats are still battling some injuries to key players in the likes of Jeremy Cameron, Mitch Duncan and Gyran Miers, but considering some of the carnage going on at other teams in the AFL, the Cat’s injury list is looking really solid and all three of those players should return in time for finals.

The Kangaroos still sit on the bottom of the ladder, but with wins in three of their last five games, they are jeopardising their chances of securing the No.1 pick in the draft as they now sit tied on points with Hawthorn, trailing them by percentage only.

It’s been an impressive run for the Roos, who started the season horribly and are still battered by injury with the likes of Ben Cunnington, Taylor Garner, Flynn Perez, Will Phillips, Tom Powell, Robbie Tarrant, Tarryn Thomas and Will Walker currently injured.

The Cats start as heavy favourites for this clash but the 36.5-point line is one that im not really interested in either way. I do like the under here though. The Cats have the best defence in the competition, allowing a league low 1178 points so far this season. There is also set to be a bit of rain in the Bellerive area on Saturday, which should make scoring even tougher. I expect North Melbourne to score 40-50 points at the most on Saturday, and the Cats have scored 100+ just four times in 18 games this season.

Same Game Multi

Brad Close has booted 11 goals in 15 games this season, including one in each of his last two games. I think he plays a bit closer to home this week with Gyran Miers out with an injured leg, which could result in an extra shot on goal or two for Close.

Patrick Dangerfield spent the majority of his time in the midfield on the weekend against the Tigers, racking up 28 touches. Since his return to the line-up from injury, he has averaged 24.42 touches per game. Jack Ziebell has had 20+ touches in every game this season except for three, where he has had 19 in all of them.
