AFL Richmond vs St Kilda Betting Tips

Friday Night Footy in Round 15 of the AFL sees the Richmond Tigers hosting the St.Kilda Saints from the MCG as crowds return to games in Melbourne. As always, PuntingInDanger has you covered with a full preview and AFL Round 15 tips for the clash below.

AFL Richmond vs St Kilda Betting Tips

MCG, Friday 7.50pm (AEST)

The Saints and Tigers find themselves in different sections of the ladder but both desperately need a win on Friday night. These two teams have played some interesting games of late with mixed results, so this one should be another solid clash in wet Melbourne conditions.

Match Prediction

Both the Tigers and the Saints will be coming off their bye round last weekend, so will have the benefit of a full two weeks break, which was much needed for the Saints in particular. St Kilda were absolutely ravaged by injuries in the lead up to their bye and to some extent they still are, however, they could get James Frawley, Shaun McKernan, Seb Ross, Tim Membrey and ruckman Rowan Marshall back in the side this week.

Those additions, particularly Marshall, will make a massive difference to the Saints structure. Marshall has played just five games this season and four of those games have been arguably the Saints best performances of the season. He is so important to their structure, giving them a target when kicking long down the line. Without him, the Tigers racked up huge intercept mark numbers when they decimated the Saints by 86 points back in Round 5.

The Tigers were battling injuries heavily earlier in the season but have most of their cattle back now. Only Tom Lynch, Toby Nankervis and Ivan Soldo will be out for the clash Friday night.

The return of Marshall combined with the fact that it looks to be wet conditions on Friday night in Melbourne should keep this game closer than 86 points. There’s no doubt that that the Saints have been deplorable of late but they haven’t had a marquee timeslot fixture in a while now, and they will be keen to put in an honourable performance at least. I think the Tigers win this but the wet conditions keep it relatively close.

Richmond will win this game, I have no doubt in that, so that is our anchor leg here. Jack Steele has surpassed 25 touches in 9 of his 13 games this season and in his last two he has had 31 and 34 touches. Racked up 26 in the loss to the Tigers back in Round 5. Jayden Short has had 20+ possessions in every game he has played this season. He takes the kicks outs for the Tigers and the Saints kick the 5th most behinds of any team in the competition at 11.1 behinds per game.
