It’s the week before Wimbledon and things are heating up on the grass. Ace is here with a preview of the second round clash between Paula Badosa and Jule Niemeier! Check it out below and good luck to everyone following!
The grass season can be a little tricky at times because it is so short, so it can be a little tricky to gauge overall grass form because you blink and they are off the surface for another 11 months.
Jule Niemeier is a player who has not had the best season overall, however has shown herself to be very capable on the grass courts in recent years. She has notched a couple of wins this grass swing over Tauson and Sakkari, as well as some three set losses to Vekic and Parry. With a powerful game, she has the ability to unsettle her opposition, as was the case in round 1 against Sakkari.
Niemeier faces Paula Badosa today, who was solid in her first round win over Rus. However, the week before a grand slam, I am not sure I can justify her being this short given her form and injury issues, combined with the fact that she doesn’t play a lot of tennis on the surface. I’ll take Niemeier at the underdog money line price here.
