Week 8 Fantasy Picks & Lineup Strategy
NFL Week 8 presents several outstanding stacking opportunities for Draftstars players, with two games carrying totals of 54.5 points.
Dallas hosts Arizona in what could become an explosive offensive contest, while Baltimore travels to Buffalo for another matchup featuring considerable fantasy potential. However, my preferred tournament construction takes a slightly different approach.
Cincinnati hosts Tennessee in a game carrying a more modest total of 46.5 points, but the Bengals' passing offense provides an attractive stacking opportunity against a vulnerable Titans defence. Injuries to Tennessee's receiving group also create an appealing bring-back option.
Jacksonville's matchup against Indianapolis offers another potential stacking opportunity, although I'm more interested in a Jaguars mini stack than forcing a full game stack.
The challenge this week is identifying which expensive combinations justify their salaries and where cheaper players can provide the necessary flexibility.
Let's examine the players and strategies worth considering.
Key Week 8 stacking targets
Cowboys vs Cardinals (54.5 total) • Ravens vs Bills (54.5 total) • Bengals vs Titans • Jaguars vs Colts
Quarterbacks
Joe Burrow $16,860
Joe Burrow is my preferred quarterback selection this week as Cincinnati hosts Tennessee.
The Bengals enter as substantial favourites, with one of the highest implied team totals on the slate. That creates an outstanding opportunity for Burrow to continue his impressive recent form.
Cincinnati is coming off a convincing 35-13 victory over Baltimore, with Burrow's passing attack proving particularly effective against a divisional rival.
Tennessee has struggled defensively, and the Bengals possess the receiving talent to exploit those weaknesses.
At $16,860, Burrow isn't cheap, but he offers an attractive alternative to Josh Allen and the premium quarterbacks in the highest-total games.
Tee Higgins is my preferred stacking partner, particularly following his outstanding performance against Baltimore.
The biggest concern is game script. Cincinnati could establish a comfortable lead and reduce its passing volume later in the contest.
However, the Bengals have enough offensive firepower to generate substantial fantasy production before that becomes an issue.
Trevor Lawrence $15,760
Trevor Lawrence offers another attractive mid-priced option as Jacksonville hosts Indianapolis.
The Jaguars enter as favourites in a game carrying a total of 46.5 points, with their implied team total suggesting another productive offensive performance is possible.
Lawrence has several receiving weapons capable of generating explosive plays, making Jacksonville an interesting team to target through the passing game.
At $15,760, he provides a modest saving compared with Burrow and considerably more flexibility than the elite quarterbacks.
The matchup also creates an interesting roster construction opportunity. Rather than committing to a full game stack, I'm comfortable pairing Lawrence with one or two Jacksonville receivers without necessarily bringing back an Indianapolis player.
The Colts could struggle to keep pace, but that doesn't prevent Lawrence from producing a strong fantasy performance.
Keenan Allen remains a viable WR3 or FLEX consideration from Indianapolis, particularly if the Colts are forced into an aggressive passing approach.
QB Strategy
Burrow-Higgins is my preferred quarterback-receiver combination, with Wan'Dale Robinson providing the Tennessee bring-back. Lawrence offers an alternative through a Jacksonville mini stack.
Ravens v Bills is another obvious game to attack. Josh Allen can be paired with James Cook or DJ Moore, with Zay Flowers coming back from Baltimore.
However, Moore's uncertain workload in his return and Lamar Jackson's fitness introduce some risk. Jackson is expected to play, but his effectiveness as a runner remains an important consideration following his ankle injury.
Running Backs
Bijan Robinson $18,900
Bijan Robinson remains one of the most attractive premium running backs available. Atlanta travels to Tampa Bay for an NFC South divisional matchup, and Robinson's combination of rushing and receiving involvement makes him capable of producing an enormous fantasy score regardless of game script.
He's central to everything Atlanta wants to accomplish offensively, with his receiving ability providing additional value in Draftstars scoring.
The divisional matchup could become a relatively low-scoring contest, but that doesn't necessarily diminish Robinson's appeal. In fact, a close game could encourage Atlanta to rely heavily on its most talented offensive player.
At $18,900, he's expensive, although the salary is manageable compared with some of the elite running backs we've seen in recent weeks.
Robinson is particularly appealing as a standalone selection in lineups built around passing-game stacks elsewhere.
Bucky Irving $14,890
Bucky Irving is one of my preferred running back selections this week as Tampa Bay hosts Atlanta. Irving has taken control of the Buccaneers' backfield, with his expanding workload creating an attractive fantasy opportunity.
Importantly, his involvement isn't limited to rushing attempts. Irving's receiving ability provides another avenue to production, making him particularly valuable in a matchup where I'm anticipating a relatively modest total.
The Falcons possess enough defensive talent to make life difficult for Tampa Bay, but Irving's volume should provide a solid foundation. At $14,890, he doesn't require a spectacular performance to justify his selection.
A combination of consistent rushing opportunities and several receptions should push him towards a top 10 running back score for the week, with high upside with a touchdown.
He's particularly attractive for lineups looking to avoid spending heavily at both running back positions.
Rhamondre Stevenson $9,510
Rhamondre Stevenson provides one of the most appealing salary saving opportunities on the slate.
New England travels to Miami for an AFC East divisional matchup carrying a relatively low total, but that game environment could suit Stevenson.
The Dolphins have struggled considerably against opposing rushing attacks, creating an opportunity for New England to establish its ground game.
Stevenson remains a physical runner capable of handling significant rushing volume, particularly when the Patriots are competitive or playing from ahead.
At just $9,510, he doesn't need an enormous fantasy performance to provide value. A productive rushing afternoon, combined with a touchdown, could make him one of the strongest salary adjusted running backs available.
There is always some risk in targeting a running back from a low total matchup, but Miami's defensive vulnerabilities make this an appealing exception.
Stevenson is an important component of my suggested lineup, allowing additional salary to be invested in the passing game.
RB Strategy
Robinson is the premium option, while Irving offers an attractive combination of workload and receiving involvement.
Stevenson provides the salary relief required to accommodate more expensive selections elsewhere.
My preferred construction pairs Irving with Stevenson, effectively targeting two running backs whose workloads could remain substantial even if their respective games produce relatively few points.
Wide Receivers
Puka Nacua $19,570
Puka Nacua remains one of the strongest premium wide receiver selections available. The Rams' passing offense continues to revolve around Nacua, whose combination of target volume, receiving consistency and explosive-play potential makes him extremely attractive in Draftstars scoring.
At $19,570, he's expensive, but few receivers offer a comparable combination of floor and ceiling. Nacua can generate substantial fantasy production through receptions and yardage alone, reducing his dependence on touchdowns.
He's particularly appealing in lineups where we're paying down at running back or tight end. The biggest consideration is opportunity cost.
Selecting Nacua makes it considerably harder to accommodate other premium players, particularly in the two games carrying totals of 54.5 points.
However, his established role means he remains a strong standalone selection, even when he isn't part of the primary game stack.
Tee Higgins $14,540
Tee Higgins is one of my favourite selections on the slate. Cincinnati hosts Tennessee, and Higgins enters the matchup following an outstanding performance against Baltimore.
Last week, he caught six passes for 148 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' 35-13 victory. That performance highlights the enormous upside Higgins possesses within Cincinnati's passing offense, and he is close to taking over as the WR1 on an offense that contains Ja’Marr Chase.
At $14,540, he offers a substantial saving compared with the premium receivers while retaining the ability to produce a tournament-winning score.
Tennessee's defensive struggles create an excellent opportunity for another productive performance. Higgins is particularly attractive alongside Joe Burrow, with the combination providing direct exposure to Cincinnati's projected offensive production.
Wan'Dale Robinson offers the obvious bring-back from Tennessee, particularly with Carnell Tate unavailable. That three-player combination forms the centrepiece of my suggested lineup.
Michael Wilson $14,240
Michael Wilson offers an attractive route into one of the highest-total games on the slate. Arizona travels to Dallas for a matchup carrying a total of 54.5 points, creating an outstanding environment for fantasy production.
The Cowboys have struggled defensively, particularly when opponents have been able to establish an aggressive passing approach.
Wilson offers the ability to produce significant yardage and explosive plays, making him an appealing tournament selection.
At $14,240, he's considerably cheaper than the most expensive receivers available. That creates an opportunity to gain exposure to the Dallas v Arizona matchup without committing to a premium quarterback stack.
Wilson can be paired with an Arizona quarterback, with CeeDee Lamb or George Pickens providing Dallas bring-backs. However, I particularly like him alongside Ryan Flournoy in a mini game stack.
The combination offers exposure to both sides of a potentially explosive contest at a more manageable combined salary.
WR Strategy
Cowboys v Cardinals is an obvious game to attack, particularly with a total of 54.5 points. Wilson and Flournoy provide a relatively inexpensive mini stack, while premium combinations involving Lamb or Pickens offer alternatives.
Burrow-Higgins-Robinson is my preferred full game stack.
Ravens v Bills also deserves significant attention, particularly through Allen and his receiving options, with Flowers coming back.
Puka Nacua remains an excellent standalone premium selection, while Jacksonville's receivers offer additional mini-stack opportunities alongside Lawrence.
Tight Ends
Hunter Henry $8,430
Hunter Henry offers an appealing mid-priced option as New England travels to Miami. The Patriots tight end remains an important part of the passing offense, particularly in situations where New England needs reliable intermediate receiving options.
At $8,430, Henry offers a useful compromise between the premium tight ends and the minimum priced alternatives. The matchup isn't expected to produce an enormous number of points, but Henry doesn't necessarily require a shootout to deliver value. A handful of receptions and a touchdown could provide an excellent fantasy return.
He can also be paired with Drake Maye in a more aggressive Patriots passing stack, although my preference is to target New England through its running game.
Henry remains a viable option for lineups where additional salary is available at tight end.
Mason Taylor $5,000
Mason Taylor is one of my favourite value selections this week. The Jets host Las Vegas, and Taylor enters the matchup following a breakout performance last week.
That increased involvement is particularly encouraging for a player available at the minimum $5,000 salary. The Raiders have struggled to contain opposing tight ends recently, creating an appealing matchup for Taylor's receiving role.
At this price, expectations are modest. A handful of receptions could be enough to provide useful value, while a touchdown would make him an outstanding selection.
Importantly, Taylor isn't simply occupying a cheap roster spot. His recent performance and the matchup provide a plausible route to meaningful fantasy production.
The salary saving is substantial, particularly when attempting to accommodate Burrow, Higgins and several mid-priced receivers. He occupies the tight end position in my suggested lineup.
TE Strategy
Henry offers a more established receiving role, while Taylor provides the stronger salary-saving opportunity.
My preference is Taylor at minimum price, allowing additional investment in the passing game stacks that offer the greatest tournament upside.
Defence / Special Teams
Pittsburgh Steelers $6,890
Pittsburgh is my preferred premium defensive selection this week as the Steelers host Cleveland. The AFC North divisional matchup presents an opportunity for Pittsburgh's defensive front to generate pressure, sacks and turnovers.
The Steelers possess the personnel to disrupt opposing quarterbacks, particularly when opponents are forced into obvious passing situations.
At $6,890, the salary is substantial, but the potential for negative plays creates an attractive fantasy ceiling.
Cleveland's offense has been inconsistent, and Pittsburgh's ability to pressure the quarterback could prove decisive.
The divisional nature of the matchup also makes this an appealing spot to target defensive production. Pittsburgh is my preferred selection in the suggested lineup.
Minnesota Vikings $4,840
Minnesota provides a considerably cheaper defensive alternative. At just $4,840, the Vikings don't require an extraordinary performance to justify their selection.
Their ability to generate pressure and create turnovers gives them a realistic path to fantasy production, even without completely dominating their opponent.
The salary saving compared with Pittsburgh is substantial. That difference could be particularly valuable for lineups attempting to accommodate multiple premium offensive selections.
However, defensive scoring remains volatile, and the cheaper salary doesn't necessarily guarantee better value.
Minnesota is primarily a roster construction alternative for anyone looking to invest more heavily in the highest-total games.
D/ST Strategy
Pittsburgh is my preferred selection, while Minnesota provides a cheaper alternative.
My suggested lineup pays up for the Steelers, prioritising their defensive upside against Cleveland.
Slate Strategy & Roster Construction
Four games deserve particular attention in Week 8.
Cowboys v Cardinals and Ravens v Bills both carry totals of 54.5 points, creating obvious opportunities for full game stacks.
Allen with Cook or Moore, bringing back Flowers, is an attractive Buffalo construction. However, Moore's role and Jackson's mobility introduce uncertainty.
Jacksonville v Indianapolis offers another option, particularly through a Lawrence-led mini stack without forcing a bring-back.
My preferred lineup instead centres on Burrow-Higgins-Robinson in Bengals-Titans. Tate's absence increases Robinson's potential target share, while Cincinnati has struggled against slot receivers. If the Titans are forced to chase points, Robinson could benefit considerably.
Wilson and Flournoy provide a second mini stack in Cowboys v Cardinals, allowing exposure to the highest total matchup without paying for its premium quarterbacks.
Irving and Stevenson occupy the running back positions, with both selected primarily for their anticipated workloads rather than high-scoring game environments.
Taylor provides minimum priced exposure to a favourable tight end matchup, while the Steelers defence completes the lineup.
It's an aggressive tournament construction built around Cincinnati's passing attack, with additional exposure to Dallas v Arizona and several affordable players capable of exceeding expectations.

Final Thoughts
Week 8 offers several excellent stacking opportunities, particularly in Cowboys v Cardinals and Ravens-Bills.
However, my preferred tournament approach involves targeting Cincinnati's passing offense against Tennessee. Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins provide an attractive combination, while Wan'Dale Robinson offers a compelling bring back following Carnell Tate's injury.
Michael Wilson and Ryan Flournoy provide additional exposure to the potentially explosive Dallas v Arizona matchup.
At running back, Bucky Irving and Rhamondre Stevenson offer appealing combinations of workload and salary, while Mason Taylor provides minimum priced tight end value.
Pittsburgh completes the suggested lineup as my preferred defensive selection.
The objective is straightforward: target the most attractive scoring environments, identify favourable individual matchups and use salary savings to construct a lineup with genuine tournament-winning potential.
