Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, January 21st

January 21st 2020, 10:54am, By: Luke Krahe

Some interesting country racing meets coming from Warrnambool and Wagga this Tuesday, the 21st of January and we have you covered with our best bets of the day below.

Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, January 21st

Wagga Race 1 - (Market)

(1) Storming Eclipse was a well backed favourite last start at Corowa in an easier Class 1 and maiden over a mile. Blaike McDougall was the pilot that day and rode him a treat. After beginning well enough he took a sit behind the speed, eased around the leaders when they straightened and held them off when he hit the front. This is harder as he has to go from that to a Class 2 here on the bigger track, the key will be if he can get across to the rails first. If he does, he will be very hard to run down. The main danger looks to be (2) Zaromatic who will also push forward early, but I expect him to take a sit. He races well here and was ok in a similar race last time, just don’t think if it is an even tempo, he will be able to run past Storming Eclipse in the straight. Different story though if he holds the lead and parks our tip off the fence.

Wagga Race 4 - (Market)

A little concerning that (6) She’s Our Reward is lining up for career start twelve and is still a maiden, this looks a very winnable race for her. She has obviously had some issues, was off the scene for more than a year before resuming last time for the new yard. She was formerly with the Weir camp and is now trained at Wangaratta by John and Chris Ledger. She resumed at Echuca three weeks ago and was very well backed off a good trial, led, kicked clear early in the straight only to be run down late. It looked like she may have just needed the run after the ling break but there was plenty to like about her effort. She gets the blinkers back on and a tongue tie for the first time, from the wide draw she should be carving over and looking for the top. She can win at her first go racing clockwise.

She's Our Reward

$2.25

Warrnambool Race 1 - (Market)

(1) Category Five is lining up for start three today and is second-up from a spell. He resumed at Cranbourne in a similar maiden to this and was well backed late. He got a mile back and came wide, ran past a couple late but was not favoured the way the race was run. He gets out to the 1400m which looks to suit the way he ran through the line last start. I expect him to be well backed again. His main danger looks to be (8) The Red One but happy to take her on. She has had five weeks between runs stepping up to the 7 furlongs, she will find this easier than last start at the Valley but she was very plain on that occasion. I can’t find any jump-outs for her in that time and expect her to be a huge drifter in the betting from the wide gate.

Category Five

$2.20

Warrnambool Race 3 - (Market)

(7) Trading Stock was on debut at Stawell three weeks ago, straight to the mile at career start number one is a tough ask. He was a big drifter in the betting, especially very late. He settled close to the speed and was held-up approaching the turn when the runs came, went back to the inside and hit the line well. He ran third but looked as though he still had plenty to learn, laying in up the straight. It looks a good form reference, the runner-up has since come out and won a maiden by 9 lengths! They obviously think that he will run the trip and steps up to the 2000m at career start number two. I like the jockey change also with John Allen taking over from Fred Kersley.
