There's five meetings across Australia this Thursday, with both day and night racing on the agenda. Luke Krahe has found a couple of bets at Newcastle during the afternoon before closing out the night with two more at Pakenham.

Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, February 27th
Newcastle Race 3 - (Market)
(5) Favre has been to the races five times and placed four times. He resumed at Warwick Farm at big odds in a similar set weight maiden, got a mile back in the run and saved ground as the runs came. He ran on hard although very green in the run, produced the best last 800m of the race and got into second. The horse that ran that day last come out and bolted in an easier maiden, the winner was good up in grade after leading. It looks the right form reference and the extra distance suits. Avdulla sticks with the ride and should settle closer.
Newcastle Race 7 - (Market)
Two starts back, (5) Etheridge was at Listed grade in the city and was outclassed, she got a mile back in the run and after getting wide didn’t run on in a race where it was more favourable to be on the speed. Last start, again at Warwick Farm this time on a heavy track, she settled closer. She was camped on the leaders, took over early in the straight and stuck on well running the best 400m of the race. She carries an extra 3kg here but drops significantly in grade, gets a soft run on the inside and should have plenty to offer late.
(5) Kiptanui had two starts at his first campaign, he was heavily backed on debut at Sale, sat behind the speed and came hard late to miss narrowly as an odds-on favourite. He then went to the Valley in early October in a harder race, sat up outside the speed early before getting cover, was under pressure in the run home but wasn’t afforded a lot of room to race in. He resumes today off two jump-outs at Cranbourne. He showed a lot of speed at the latest after only being tardily away, set up a big break early and absolutely brained them without the jockey asserting any pressure. Pakenham Race 6 - (Market)
(9) Curious Heart won an easier race at Kyneton up on the speed when resuming. She then went to Caulfield in a BM70 against the girls (this is a BM64), settled on the speed and was three-wide into the turn and stuck on well enough in a race where it was more favourable to be running on. Last start she went to Sandown on the inner Lakeside track, she was in behind the speed settling and was only fair in the run home, she pulled up lame so am willing to forgive that run. She has been to the jump-outs at Cranbourne in the 7-weeks since that run, she showed good speed and wasn’t really pressured fading into second behind last start Oakleigh Plate runner Mystyko.
