After a big day of Group 1 racing on Saturday, today Trent Crebbin is heading to Murrary Bridge and Ballarat for his best bets of the day. Check out his previews and racing tips for Sunday, September 20th below!
I thought (2) Jaguary was a touch of value here. The horse hasn’t done much in three runs back but should be approaching peak fitness here 4th up. He demolished a similar field when 4th up last time in and they can be positive from barrier 1. He gets a 3.5kg weight swing on the toppy (1) Flow Meter and has attracted some early support. Going back through the horse’s form he has a 2nd to Double You Tee at The Valley which is lengths better than this.
I have to side with (1) Battlecruiser here. He was clearly looking for further when resuming and steps up to 1400m here. He did start $2.50 first up in a solid form race behind Melba Storm after a debut effort behind Yes Yes Yes. The stable are flying at the moment and he draws perfectly in barrier 4, which can’t be said for the favourite (10) Kazuhiko who draws wide and likely goes back. That horse has a bit of a boom on him being very well bred but hasn’t really done enough to warrant favouritism here in my opinion. Battlecruiser for me in a tricky race.
(10) Norbu does look hard to beat here. He was an impressive all the way winner on debut before taking on a handy race when well in the market and pulling up lame. If he’s recovered from that he’ll take a stack of beating here, drawing well in barrier 4. I think he’ll have a decent head start on (8) Six Shillings who could be the main danger which is enough to get involved.
