Horse Racing Tips: Monday, May 11th
Swan Hill Race 1 - (Market)
(12) Miss Tenthousand is a debutant from the Maher-Eustace yard that has been to the jump-outs a few times through the month of April. The latest is the one that I want to focus on at Ballarat, she jumped well and assumed control early. She railed through to lead into the straight and when challenged, accelerated well when asked and was strong through the line. The second horse out of that trial is already out of maiden grade, a replay can be found here (jump out number 10). Obviously, some market support late would increase the confidence.

Swan Hill Race 4 - (Market)
We stick with the combo of Maher/Eustace and Teo Nugent for Race 4, a maiden over the mile. (7) Cake Walker debuted at Pakenham in mid-March over 7 furlongs, she was back in the run before working into the race nicely. She was checked inside the furlong and wasn’t tested over the last 100m, a big forgive run. She then went to Bendigo in a harder maiden than this and was stepping up to the mile on the soft track. She settled just behind the speed and although she stuck on well enough, she did look to race a little flat second-up. A horse that finished alongside her that day has since come out and won a maiden at Echuca by more than 3 lengths, the form looks good out of the race dropping back to this. Drawn awkwardly, it will take a good ride and I expect her to be a lot sharper when asked for the extra effort in the straight.
(7) Cake Walker E/W
$5.00
Murwillumbah Race 2 - (Market)
(5) Byron Buoy is third-up for the Matty Dunn yard, he is still a maiden after 8 starts which is a little concerning. He resumed at Grafton at 1100m and was never in the race. He was then at Grafton again last time when second-up, he got back in the run before getting into the clear and running on well. Although he was ridden along a fair way from home, I liked the way he kept chasing behind a dominant winner. He gets out in trip again with the winkers on for the first time and should settle closer off the inside gate. (1) Flying Euros is likely to be at the top of the betting, happy to be against him though. He will be up on the speed, but I can’t see him getting it all his own way and can see Byron Buoy running over the top.
Murwillumbah Race 5 - (Market)
(10) Amirykal won her maiden at Ballina on a heavy track two starts ago, she sat up outside the speed on the heavy track and bolted in by more than 5 lengths. She had a 6-week break before resuming at Grafton last time, she was squeezed out at the start and lost her spot, she stuck on well and was only beaten just over 2 lengths after being very heavily backed. Again, she has been given a break with 5 weeks between runs, I expect her to be ridden very cold from the wide gate with what looks a lot of speed underneath her. Look for her late down the middle of the track.
