Moruya Race 2
I like to target these Class One and Maiden races as it is usually quite easy to put a pen through more than half of the field. (7) Il Professionale won her maiden when fresh three starts ago, was three and four wide throughout without cover and still too strong in what was a huge victory. She was then very unlucky and should have won at Canberra the next start, last time at Goulburn she was once again wide without cover and stuck on doggedly. She has come back really well, there are no stars here and with even luck she will be finishing too hard.

Moruya Race 3
(7) Scrooge was huge in defeat at his racetrack debut, he was solid in the market at around the $5 mark at Wagga over 1000m. He got well back in the second half of the field, got to the middle of the track and ran on hard to get into third in a race where it was suited being up on the speed. He gets out to the 1200m which looks ideal the way he smashed the line last time, expect him to be well backed and to be collecting the major share of the prizemoney.His main opposition will probably the stablemate (14) Velvet Aeroplane. She has actually finished second at all four of her career starts but was DQ’d two starts back after the jock weighed in light. She may be closer in the run but she has had her chances.
Geelong Race 5
It looks an open race to me on paper as I am looking to take on the favourite (4) Cryptic Jewel. She is a back-marker that will be giving them a start fresh, is un-placed at her only heavy track start and hasn’t been to the races in 6 months. Her maiden win came over 1440m and she got out to the 1500m at her latest, I just think she will be outpaced early and may struggle to make up the round on the heavy track. (7) Touch A Cloud hasn’t been going great but the key here is getting back on a heavy track. She has good speed and with her main opposition giving her a start, she should be able to pinch a break and be too quick. She cruised to her maiden win when leading all the way in these conditions, the soft lead looks there.
Geelong Race 8
There doesn’t look any stars here and the import (4) Lord Lennox may have more upside. He is first-up straight to the 1500m which is a little questionable, but his breakthrough Australian win last start was brilliant here at the track. It was back in late March at Maiden level, he was ridiculously short ($1.35) in te betting and won accordingly. Settling mid-field, he eased wide just off the pace at the top of the straight before exploding clear to win by 4.5 lengths. It was most impressive. He will probably be even more electric over further, his only heavy track run was a failure on debut, at the 2000m no less, so we can discard that. If he has come back well, he will be too quick for them the last furlong.
Tamworth Race 1
(1) Manno has speed and may improve with the blinkers on, (2) Hercules Mo was ok after a tough run in a harder race last time, (4) Rye Dee Oh stays under notice for the local top yard on debut and (5) Friendly Venture has been ok but is well into her first prep at start number eight here. They all have a chance but I am betting around them and taking (6) Another Sheila on an each-way basis. She is third-up today, ventured to Toowoomba last time and improved off the fresh run and stuck on well to just miss a place. She maps well and should have the cold sit on the leaders, stepping up to the 6 furlongs looks ideal and she looks an each-way bet to nothing in an open race. Looker goes on which is another positive.
