Harness Racing Tips: Saturday, June 8th

June 7th 2019, 5:58pm, By: Trent Orwin

Welcome to our harness racing preview and betting tips for racing at Albion Park, Melton, and Menangle on Saturday, June 8th.

Trent Orwin has picked out his best bets from each track below with four selections in total.

Harness Racing Tips: Saturday, June 8th

Albion Park Race 2 – 5:09pm AEST

Grant Dixon trains and drives (2) The Golden Cross who was a Marburg winner two starts ago. Last start he was fourth from the death seat in 1:54.1. His form is consistent without winning at the track and I think he is over the odds at $26. I am not sure if he can cross Hez All Courage at the start but I expect The Golden Cross to be more competitive than his odds reflect. (5) Rays Choice along with Hez All Courage look strong contenders here. There looks to be other chances in a wide-open race.

(2) The Golden Cross

$26

Melton Race 1 – 4:52pm AEST

The Glenn Douglas stable is airborne at the moment and happy to try and get a piece of the red-hot form by supporting (3) Wotchawaitingfor. The 6YO gelding has finished in the top four at his past six starts. He was placed last start in 1:52.7 which is flying and if he can get a soft smother in this 1720m race, he could be charging home. It looks an even field and Wotchawaitingfor looks the best value in the race.

(3) Wotchawaitingfor

$9.00

Menangle Race 1 – 5:20pm AEST

A competitive M0 to kick off the Menangle program and I thought (6) Summit Special could go close after three-straight seconds behind Jack Farthing, Alpine Stride and Double Encounter. The mile rates of 1:52.9, 1:51.8 and 1:52.2 stack up well in this field. Three starts ago they dropped a 25.4 last quarter which shows this 4YO gelding has speed about him. (1) Thatswhatisaid looks the leader in the race and will certainly go very close once again as he aims for a hat-trick.

(6) Summit Special

$5.00

Menangle Race 3 – 6:20pm AEST

An M1 contest over 2300m that sees (10) Cullenburn the $1.60 favourite despite losing a C5+ at Newcastle as the $1.18 favourite. His conqueror, (7) Dark Energy is also in the race but I am happy to overlook the pair. (3) Brocks Territory is a stablemate to Dark Energy and was a good run last start when third behind Loorrim Creek. He should go very close here. I also like (9) Jakes Sportwriter despite the poor draw. He has been placed at his past couple and it wouldn’t surprise if he ran a good race.

Value: (9) Jakes Sportswriter $26

(3) Brock's Territory

$4.00
