Harness Racing Tips: Gloucester Park - Friday, April 12th

April 12th 2019, 11:12am, By: Trent Orwin

Another great harness racing card coming to us from Gloucester Park this Friday, the 12th of April! We take a look at all 10 races on the cards and give our betting tips below!

Gloucester Park Harness Tips

Race 1 (7:23pm AEST)

The speed map will be The Art Form leading, Im Soxy racing behind the leader and One For Sassy behind the leader. The Art Form deserves to be favourite but $1.30 is skinny because Im Soxy should be able to challenge him in this race. Four starts ago The Art Form led throughout in 1:54.6 to defeat Mattjestic Star and Herrick Roosevelt which is good form. He has been run down when leading; Gotta Go Gabbana proved too good for The Art Form seven starts ago. Im Soxy comes off a win over Mighty Flying Deal. He won’t be far away at the finish and looks the main danger. Happy to take $2.80 or better. Campora is next best.

Im Soxy

$3.20

Race 2 (7:52pm AEST)

A fantastic FFA race for the fillies and mares that has been made even better with the barrier draw. I don’t have a lot of confidence in working out the speed map. Rosies Ideal would love to lead, but Our Angel Of Harlem or Eden Franco could also be potential leaders in the race. I’m happy to back two mares in the race. Rosies Ideal is a 4YO on the way up and she has won three of her past four starts. She had to do it tough last start with a middle half run in 56.5 while racing outside of the leader. She is versatile and should run a good race. Our Alfie Romeo is the other that I want to back. Her winning streak was broken two starts ago and she has been runner-up at her past two. She has a lot of speed and if there is pressure on, expect her to be charging home in the final circuit. Happy to back both at $4 or better.

Our Alfie Romeo $4.80

Rosies Ideal

$8.00

Race 3 (8:22pm AEST)

Lord Willoughby looks hardest to beat but there is plenty of gate speed and I have concerns that he may be crossed. Walkinshaw and Debt Free Charlie are the early challengers searching for the lead also. Soho Leviathan is the interesting runner as he resumes from a spell for new trainer, Debra Lewis. Luis Alberto has been a revelation since joining Lewis and Soho Leviathan has already produced some good runs, including a 1:54.9 victory over El Jacko. Happy to back him at $9 or better. Walkinshaw should also be able to run a big race and he will go close. $4 or better is a good price for Walkinshaw in this event.

Walkinshaw $7.00

Soho Leviathan

$17

Race 4 (8:52pm AEST)

Always Arjay doesn’t strike me as the type of horse that you want to take odds-on or even-money about in FFA company. Finding the winner in the race is not easy because there are numerous chances. The Bucket List has barrier three and should get a nice run in the moving line so that’s the way that I will go but I don’t have a lot of confidence. He was a winner three starts ago defeating Whozideawasthis and Vultan Tin. Most of the field have similar ability and the best run throughout normally determines the winner. Happy to back The Bucket List at $4.50 or better.

The Bucket List

$5.00

Race 5 (9:22pm AEST)

There isn’t a lot of depth in the 3YO Fillies ranks leading into the WA Oaks with Dracarys and Typhoon Tiff standouts at present. We may be adding former Kiwi Balcatherine to that list following Friday night’s race. $1.90 about a horse drawing the inside of the back row is not normally something that I recommend, but the Gary Hall Snr stable have aspirations of winning the WA Oaks with her and considering she has only won two races, albeit from two career starts, she will need to win the Prelude in order to qualify for the Oaks. I have watched her races, trials and workouts from New Zealand, and she looks very hard to beat here. Happy to take $1.70 or better.

Balcatherine

$1.90

Race 6 (9:52pm AEST)

Bad Round will be looking for cover early with Good Times Ahead or Neighlor the most likely to take up the running over the 2536m. Good Times Ahead grows a leg in front and with Gary Hall Jnr driving, he may be able to use the gelding’s gate speed to find the lead. His last run was okay over this distance when running seventh. Go back to December and this horse won at $1.40 over Back To The Beach who is $3.80 in this event. Mighty Flying Deal has the best closing speed in the race and his form is really good. He looks a big chance from barrier seven and happy to back him also. Looking for $7 or better for Good Times Ahead and $3 or better Mighty Flying Deal.

Mighty Flying Deal $3.50

Good Times Ahead

$15

Race 7 (10:27pm AEST)

A good race to take a breather so we will just sit back and watch Warfare lead and win at a short quote. He rated 1:53.6 at his WA debut and will be winning a lot more races in Western Australia.

Race 8 (10:52pm AEST)

Marquisard doesn’t win out of turn but this looks a great race for him to notch another victory to his name by leading throughout from barrier one. Chris Lewis is an expert when it comes to frontrunning-drives and this should be no exception as the horse showed back in December when leading all-the-way at Northam. This is a tougher race but the main danger is on his back in Ideal One and David Thompson’s pair of Liam Neil and Jasmin Amal are the other key chances. Happy to take $1.80 or better for Marquisard and have something tiny on Jasmin Amal if you can get $15 or better.

Marquisard

$2.30

Race 9 (11:20pm AEST)

Two horses dominate the market and rightly so. At the current prices, neither horse interests me with Quick Stride a $2 chance and Heez Manly $2.10. Quick Stride hasn’t shown much gate speed which is his biggest concern. Heez Manly will probably have to do the work in the race. I’d prefer to sit back and watch the race at current prices.

No bet

Race 10 (11:58pm AEST)

The stand is the final race on the card with a field of eight runners lining up. Trust My Judgment should lead as he rises in class. Oneonthewood, Cracka Star and Attack On Command get in well off just 10m. Oneonthewood will be looking to stay in front of Attack On Command in the race. He will not want to race outside of the leader however. Oneonthewood is very consistent and should be fighting out the finish in this grade. Cracka Star opened $51 and is now into $13. Still a backable price at double figures. I have marked Oneonthewood $2.70 in the race and Cracka Star $8.50.

Cracka Star $13

Oneonthewood

$3.00
