The AFL heads to Darwin on Saturday night for what shapes as a fascinating clash between two sides trending in the right direction. Gold Coast return to TIO Stadium with a formidable record in the Top End, while St Kilda arrive full of confidence after winning three of their past four games.

Gold Coast vs St Kilda Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 9
Suns Building Momentum Again In The Top End
Gold Coast bounced back strongly last week with a 20-point win over GWS and, more importantly, showed signs that their defensive structure is beginning to stabilise after a rough month. The Suns had conceded 100+ points in four straight matches before restricting the Giants to just eight goals in greasy conditions.
Christian Petracca was outstanding again with 28 disposals and two goals, while Jamarra Ugle-Hagan’s three-goal performance showed how dangerous the Suns’ forward setup can become moving forward. Add in the Darwin factor, where Gold Coast have won eight straight games by an average margin of 39 points, and it is easy to see why they head in as favourites.
Saints Continuing To Evolve Offensively
St Kilda’s 39-point win over Carlton may have been their most complete performance of the season. After trailing during the third quarter, the Saints exploded offensively, piling on 11 goals to two and completely overwhelming the Blues through turnover and transition football.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera continued his elite form with 31 disposals and a goal, while Rowan Marshall, Mitch Owens and Liam Henry all hit the scoreboard. The Saints have now won three of their past four and continue to prove they can stay competitive regardless of venue, with interstate wins already this season over Port Adelaide and GWS.
Suns or Saints? Here’s our Gold Coast vs St Kilda Tip
I’m backing the Saints to stay right in this contest. Gold Coast deserve favouritism given their incredible Darwin record, but St Kilda have been competitive in virtually every game this season and rarely get blown away. Their four losses this year have come by an average margin of just 14.7 points.
The Saints’ pressure and contest work travels well, and they have shown an ability to grind games into ugly territory battles when required. Gold Coast should still have periods where they control momentum, especially in the humid conditions they know so well, but St Kilda have enough structure and discipline to keep this within the number.

Gold Coast vs St Kilda Prop Bet
Rowan Marshall was dominant last week in the ruck-forward role and I think we could see St Kilda lean even further into that setup here. Tom De Koning floated forward at times against Carlton and looked dangerous, which could open the door for more of a genuine 50-50 ruck split. Marshall also has the ability to drift behind the ball and impact as an extra distributor, giving him multiple avenues to rack up touches.

Gold Coast vs St Kilda Same Game Multi
Sam Flanders 20+ Disposals - Looked extremely comfortable in the half-back role last week and even took kick-ins. Feels like a role that could unlock consistent numbers.
Callum Wilkie 20+ Disposals - One of the Saints’ most reliable accumulators this season and has reached 20+ in every game so far.
Daniel Rioli 20+ Disposals - Has cleared the mark in four of his last five and should thrive in a game where Gold Coast look to generate rebound from half-back.
