Flemington will host nine races this Saturday with gallopers to be running on another Good track much to the frustrations of trainers who have wet trackers scheduled to run in the winter! Race one starts at 11:55am (AEST) with Craig WIlliams and Anthony Cummings combining with a short priced favourite who we will target early on.
Brendan Bunworth has done the form to bring you his three Flemington best bets for day as well as his Quaddie selections. If you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, June 21st 2025
Race 1: TAB We’re On - 11:55am (AEST)
(2) Observer has drawn barrier 10 over the 1420m which is not normally ideal at this track but I think he has the class to win anyway. On debut he led and finished second before he smashed them at Lakeside after being on pace for Mark Zahra. From the wide gate Willow can cross and lead as long as the others don’t try to take him on or the second plan would be to slot in in about 4th place on the outside. Likes Dry tracks and has a win over the 1400m already. The only slight concern is that this is the biggest field he has raced in so far.
(1) Impending War won on the Dry at Swan Hill when $2.20 favourite and has to be respected being in a leading stable (Hayes). Is 2 from 2.
(3) Buccleuch has drawn inside and he won well at Echuca last start. Should get a similar run here settling behind the leader and should be in this for a long way.
(2) Observer
$1.70 (3 units)
Race 4: Rod Johnson Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)
(1) Taken just keeps winning and can win again here after smashing them at this track at his latest effort. He remains at the mile and has got a 4.5kg weight rise for his victory. Willow isn’t concerned and has accepted the ride for the Price&Kent stable.
(2) Dark Simba won well last start but that was on the Heavy. Simba won’t be getting that here and will have to run up to his Sale effort where he scored the run prior. Has beaten horses more experienced and older befre though.
(12) Darkbonnee gets weight relief here but is up in distance. Has drawn well in 2 and his maiden effort was really good. Drops 5kg for this.
(1) Taken
$3.00 (2 units)
Race 7: Brian Beattie Handicap - 3:25pm (AEST)
(6) Splash Back is winner having won 5 from 11 starts and another Dry track is key here. At Caulfield last start he sat just off them and was far too good winning by 2.25L and this race isn't that much harder and he should get a similar run in transit. He has won two times before over the 1400m and barrier 4 looks ideal. On resumption he ran over the 1200m and was powerful to the line and the connections will be thinking 1600m and beyond this prep with an eye on a race during the Spring.
(5) Avebury may lead this field and if they go slow in front can run a drum at juicy odds. This is her favourite distance and she only just got overrun last time when 3rd but beaten only a neck.
(3) Mollynickers has been freshened for this and will be running on at the end. She did just that at Hillside on May 24 when 2nd and she didn’t have much luck on that occasion either. She has since trialled up nicely at Pakenham.
(6) Splash Back
$1.80 (3 units)
